What does this formal “decanonization” entail? What is the name and date of the motu proprio that effected this formal act?Our point is Not Liturgical Calendar but “DeCanonization” of Roman Catholic Saints I specifically remember St Christopher was ‘decanonized’ formally As a a Saint from Vatican II research, because of lack of history/documention ca Vatican II. We were told to continue fully respecting him if we wished. The Liturgical Calender has Days of Not Canonized Saints such as The Archangel Gabriel and “Saint Joseph” the Carpenter earthly stepfather of Our Saviour.
- (I was mistaken about Christopher Columbus, a famous figure, considered for the name of ‘saint’ because of popularity. (However, Scientist have Proven Chris Columbus didn’t discover anything except a few Carribean Islands.) Leif Ericson, the Viking Settlers of Iceland and Greenland have been shown to have settled briefly at the Canadian Coast and questionably further in and South. So the Vikings Discovered The Americas. Search: Leif Erricson
The only thing I have come across is Paul VI’s motu proprio [Mysterii Paschalis (http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/p...u-proprio_19690214_mysterii-paschalis_en.html) (Feb. 14, 1969) which whittled down some of the saints feast days from the universal calendar (including St. Christopher). But nothing is mentioned of “decanonization”.
I’m not trying to bait you. I am simply unaware of any formal act from the Church removing the title of “Saint” from anyone. If you know the specific document, please let me know so I can be better educated on the matter.
