St. Patrick's/Lent question

For Lent I gave up alcohol BUT I made the exception that St. Patrick’s Day I will have a few pints prior to Lent starting. So I went in with the idea that I would abstain from all alcohol all Lent long EXCEPT St. Patrick’s Day.

Is this O.K.?

As abstainaces such as this are not required I do not see anything wrong with it but to me you are not abstaining all of Great Lent, you are abstaining from March 18th though the rest of Great Lent.
