This is a paraphrase of a reflection on Mary and Martha I sent to thank the priest for opening the Church.

I have always found serving at Mass too easy and am using the time to consider the paradox of Martha, a woman who served Jesus, forgetting the greater value in the simplicity of being in the presence of Jesus. There are those at Mass are the 10% that do all the work. Now, since the Church has been opened (we are open for reflection throughout the day), there is a chance to look to this “better part” of Mary and spend time sitting and listening to Jesus without all the stuff to do. For our Lenten practice this year (we) will take time to sit and be with Jesus, something made possible because you have kept hours where the Church is open.

What Mary understood, that Martha did not, was that the first step in a relationship is being there in the presence of the beloved. It is more important than anything we say or do, better than any prayer we can make, as listening is a greater act of love than speaking. Even if one cannot physically have time to be in the presence of Jesus in the Eucharist, as I am blessed to do, it is of great value to stop and do so spiritually and contemplate His love for you, and your love for Him - the Mary thing, especially as there are no “liturgical” dishes do clean or meals to gook.

On another note, I am listening to Bishop Barron’s Mass, and have signed up for his Lenten devotions.

Just to be clear The Quarantined Catholic Hub is not my thread title and I did not intend for it to be a place to list other resources. It is the specific name the St Paul Center gave for their resources that I thought would be of interest to the forum and perhaps be discussed. I should have made the thread title to reflect that and I just edited it.
