St. Robert Bellarmine and the Pope-Heretic Question

There are no canons in the current code to which the Holy Father has to answer to. He is above the Canon Law of the Church, and can change any element of it as he sees fit.

Arguing from the time of Robert Bellarmine is useless. And from the CE of 1911. Or from the 1917 Code.

The issue at hand is that none of the Popes you have in mind, from Pius IX through Benedict XVI has committed a manifest or notorious act of heresy.

Any one making a recourse against the Holy Father to a General Council or to the College of Bishops will be punished by a fitting censure from Canon Law. This is a left-over from the 15th century intra-ecclesial conflicts. An excommunication or interdict might result from any one making such a recourse.

We don’t see attacks coming from any source on this Website against any of these men. We all believe in their goodness, holiness, and sanctity, leading the Church faithful as the Vicar of Christ on earth.

General attacks on the papacy are distasteful to Catholics.

mgrfin doesn’t read anything.

If a pope who is a manifest heretic loses his office, did Honorius lose his office when writing to patriarch sergius? What qualifies as manifest heresy?

mgrfin,

So heresy is a sin and a crime. What were heretics guilty of before there was any Code of Canon Law?

SFD
You have the Scriptures. Read there, and tell me what you find.

If you want to participate at least you can aswer his question. Why did you dodge it? Do you not have an answer?
VARC,

mgrfin is wrong and he knows it…that’s why he dodged it.

Apparently, “winning” the argument is more important to him than being correct.

mgrfin,

I’d rather seek the answer from the approved theologians, like St. Robert Bellarmine, Doctor of the Universal Church. What are you…a protestant? 😃

Yeah, he’s a real piece of work.
I do have a question regarding Bellarmine. What constitutes manifest heresy? It seems to be an important question regarding these issues.

Yeah Nazi like. If you don’t like what they have to say, you don’t bother to politely refute the point but rather you threaten to snuff em out. Why don’t you stop with your threats and your insults.
I haven’t insulted anyone.

If someone is threatening or insulting, the Forum Administrator would be happy to point that out.

I don’t have any threads for which I am responsible, and certainly have not closed down.

I do believe that this thread is getting personal, and getting off-track in its attacks. We have to be aware of that, that maybe it has poured out all that can be poured out, and that it doesnt have any conclusions or point to make, at least into the future.

What do you say?

So far, the Forum Administrator has not contacted me. I don’t have any threads for which I am responsible, and certainly have not closed down.

You’ve insulted me repeatedly and I have told you so. You’ve insulted others and they have told you so. But you are so pompous that you don’t acknowlege it.

These personal attacks are of no value, and consistently take the posts off-thread.

The topic is “St. Robert Bellarmine and the Pope-Heretic Question”

Can we get back to it? I am sure there are many posters who would like to be heard.

mgrfin,

You appear very combative for a fellow who signs his posts “peace”.

You have taken this thread off topic many, many times. I’ve sent itsjustdave1988 a PM with further discussion on this topic simply because of your “participation” in this thread.

You are free to PM all you want.

I have not taken this thread off topic.

As far as I can see, the thread has no where to go.

You can’t attack the Holy Popes of the past 150 with ‘notorious heresey’.

You can’t argue that there has been a ‘vacant seat’ during this time.

The Church has been through good times, especially because of the liturgical reforms of Vatican 2.

God bless our Holy Fathers, and the Roman Catholic Church.

You can misquote St. Robert Bellarmine and put words in his mouth.

You stand accused by your own words and agenda.

Personal attacks on me only take these further posts off-thread.

Move it on, and stop these attacks.

Face it. Your attitude destroys the discussion of any thread so that it is closed or moved to PM. Everyone can see that. Why can’t you?

Oh, has this thread been closed?

How can you still be writing posts on it?

And your thread, has that been closed?

No wonder you are so upset. I really feel bad for you.

It might as well be closed. Your insults have stolen the show and caused it to move to PM. You attitude is poison to any thread. And I’m going to point it out every time.

I wasn’t asking for your permission.
I have not taken this thread off topic.
If you say so.

I don’t think you’ll find too many people here who agree with you on this…are you sure you know where you are?
God bless our Holy Fathers, and the Roman Catholic Church.
Of course.

Why do they go to PM? I don’t compute.

Well, maybe Forum Administrators will read that as someone who is intent on personal attacks. They will then act accordingly.

And maybe they will act accordingly when you are insulting other members by accussing them of having “agendas” instead of politely answering their posts. They go to PM because they can’t stand your pontificating. Does that “compute”?

Here’s 101 heresies of JPII alone.

Well if it’s on the internet, it must be true. I checked this brieftly. If anyone is seriously thinking sedevacantist have a point, please click on the above link and see how long it takes to spot fallacy. My take was about 15 seconds. Please. This link is the best arguement yet against sedevacantism.
