St Stanislaus Papczynski and the Holy Souls in Purgatory

I’m reading a book from a Catholic publisher on supernatural visits, messages and warnings from the souls in Purgatory.

I’m on the chapter on St Stanislaus Papczynski and his beginning religious community,
Congregation of Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception, to pray and make sacrifices for the souls in purgatory. This is the same congregation that now advocates the Divine Mercy.

I had no idea until now that the Marian Fathers were supposed to be advocates for the souls in purgatory.

Can anyone expand on this?

Praying for the Holy souls is one of the primary spiritual works of mercy for the Marian father’s.

I have heard Fr Alar and Fr Gaitely speak on a few occasions but their focus is on Divine Mercy. I don’t recall their mentioning praying a Rosary for the Holy Souls in purgatory.
 
Yes. I did see that. My point was that the main focus of the Marian Fathers nowadays appears to be Divine Mercy. I was just surprised to read that the original focus was on praying for the Holy Souls in purgatory.
 
I learnt about this fairly recently as well. I find the original focus far more important.
 
More important than Divine Mercy?

Because of Divine Mercy, perhaps more will go to purgatory instead of Hell.

Not necessarily more important, it’s just very important to pray for the souls in purgatory, as well as the living of course.

But the souls in purgatory cannot pray for them selves, the need us to do so.

The people who are alive have the sacraments ( if they are Catholic) and still have an opportunity to do what is needed to remit the the remains of sin.

If you where in purgatory wouldn’t you be consoled to know someone is praying the divine mercy chaplet for you and asking God to allow you to enter heaven quickly.

Yes, I agree we need to pray for the Holy Souls in Purgatory daily. I say a Divine Mercy Chaplet every morning for the souls in purgatory, the dying no matter when they died (Fr Alar suggested that a few years ago) and those who lost loved ones.

In November, we visit a local cemetery to pray for the dead for extra indulgences for them.
