Couldn’t make it past about 5 minutes, and the fifth or sixth instance of profanity.

I’m 14 mins into this movie and so far, it seems to have anti-Church undertones.

I read about movie and link which was posted on Facebook public group
Carmelites Unite and Facebook public group OCDS- Discalced Carmelite Secular Order. The OCDS member, a Carmelite Secular, who posted it, is also administrator of the FB page Carmelites Unite. 🤷

I personally found the movie, which I watched twice, very good. No it was not a documentary, nor a complete factual story of Teresa of Avila, and was not advertised as such.
however did capture some of the highlights of her life as a Carmelite ( as I’ve read in Autobiography of St Teresa of Avila) and other writings of Teresa, was well acted!

and please remember…its a movie 🙂 posted for viewing enjoyment. did I post this in right forum? popular media I thought

the Inquisition seems to be part of the main focus of the movie. I do not know the biography of St. Theresa of Avila very well. I watched a good hour of it but it is late and I am very tired. It doesn’t portray the convents in a good light or the Church I don’t think.
 
I finished the movie today. it is worth watching and I would like to learn more about the life of St. Theresa of Avila.
 
My main issue with this movie is hat for people who don’t know the Church well nor Church history, it paints a negative picture

If you have 7 or 8 hours, there is a 1980s miniseries-type film from Spain. At least some of it (legally or not) is on youtube. Here’s part one:

It starts with St. Teresa at about 23 years old and goes from there. It is authentic and faithful to her writings.

thanks. I chose Teresa of Avila for my confirmation name when I joined the Catholic Church. I lived in Spain at one time and visited Avila and Toledo and many many other cities. I know a little about her, but not a lot. the church I attended when I was received was Our Lady of Mt. Carmel.

Yes, this one is far and away the best movie on St. Teresa of Jesus.
