st. therese novena

so about a month ago, I prayed the novena to st. therese. I was asking God to let me know my vocation, if it was his will of course. I asked him, because st. Therese is known to show people roses, to give a red rose for marriage, a white fo religious life and another colour for single life

I was also on mission at the time and all the girls did this affirmation night night for the boys, where we wrote them a song, made dinner, etC…

so of course, there was a chance they were going to return the favor, except we didn’t know when and what they were doing or if they would really have time to do anything at all.

2 weeks after the novena, they did do something, after one of our formation sessions. and each of the girls got roses, mine was pink, I don’t; know if everyone got the same colour, I didn’t ask.

my question is, do you think this is the answer from god I had asked for? or just a me overthinking? I mean, the boys doing affirmaitons for girls, I guess it’s not that surprising that flowers were involved right? not that we had anyprior knowledge of that, and they could have been other kinds of flowers. then again, is the pink really indicative of anything, it’s unlikely they wouldhave really gotten us red roses in the first place. did I just set myself up to get the answer I wanted?

i’ll be honest, I was was a bit skeptical about the whole receiving roses thing from st. therese so I’m just a bit surprised but I also don’t want to blwo it out of proportion

I’ve never heard of St. Therese sending a specific color rose and what if anything it signifies.
It’s only ever been a rose for a prayer granted as far as I never.
First I’ve ever heard of this.
Since you didn’t ask…LOL…I think it’s far too early for you to make any “decisions” about whether or not you will be single or married.
When you finish school there will plenty of time to worry about these things.
 
I don’t know if this helps but I’ve done multiple nine-day prayer novenas to Saint Therese and I’ve generally received the rose during the nine days of the novena. Maybe the late rose means that God heard you but is not ready to reveal the answer to you yet. Or maybe your vocation could go either way at this point, depending on how much prayer and repentance is done in the near future. One thing is sure – persistent prayer will get you closer to God’s plan for you (and knowledge of that plan)!

If the rose was after the Novena concluded, it’s likely a coincidence.

I’ve had a devotion to St. Therese for awhile now and believe she was very influential in my discernment concerning my vocation. I had answers with the Novena and roses, but never once did I make a decision based on that due to advice from my spiritual director. What I did do was further focus on discerning whatever the color of rose I received indicated. As a fellow St. Therese devotee, I would suggest further prayer and exploration in the direction of the color you received. If th experience brings you closer to Christ and an improvement in communication with Him, the novena was a success.

is there a guide that tells you what the colours mean?
 
St. Therese said she would send down roses. No mention of colors or specific meanings. They are not part of her message. I’ll see if I can post up her originally quoted words. Sometimes pious folk ascribe things to move as based on anecdotal occurrences. . Pray for God’s will through her intercession.

Not that I know of. I chose colors before begging the novena. I have since fallen out of favor with asking for particular colors and such. I think it is often a great way for those who are young in prayer to enter into a deeper desire for prayer and its abilities so I personally haven’t discouraged it. I tend to be a sceptic and I have grown very sceptical in my own views of the novena.

What are you talking about?

I’m talking about people believing that a certain color of rose means something.
This is conjecture, not fact.
Signs and wonders can be problematic even with the best of intentions to the scrupulous.
We have be careful what we post about such things that don’t have a source dating back to the Saint.

I didn’t take the least bit of offense.
