I’m just starting to look into St. Therese. I’m in the fourth day of a novena and saw rose’s at the statue of Mary at church. This I expected because of Feast of the Assumption last week. But, on the way home , I passed two red rose bushes on the edge of a driveway in full bloom. How has she helped you? Thanks , Tim
 
St Therese, how I love her, she is one of my greatest friends.

I won’t list all she has has done for me in Jesus, they are too numerous. She has been with me since I was a child and through her I was led to Carmel and I hope she always stays with me there.

Thanks blessedstar for your response. I haven’t been close to her, but feel compelled to ask her intercession for a particular intention. Maybe a start to a new friendship.🙂 Tim
 
St. Therese is my patron saint. I am a convert to the Catholic Church (Easter 2005). She is the first Saint that I felt a connection with. Her little way of becoming a saint is so inspiring and so practical and yet although very simple can be challenging at times. Before my conversion to the CC, I never even thought about the saints. Being someone I could connect with, I feel she has helped me to better understand the communion of saints and the meaning of suffering.

Thats a neat story. I think my wife would like her as well. She has yet to connect with a Saint that I know of besides the BVM. Her brown scapular has the St. Therese on it as well. This may be a prompting for her. Tim
 
I love Saint Therese. I really do believe that she chose to find me instead of me finding her. I posted elsewhere on here about how I actually learned about her. When the schools in the Philly Archdiocese went on strike, a lot of our field hockey games were cancelled, including one against Little Flower High School. I wanted to find out if we would be making up the game, so typed in what I thought was their school website. It ended up being a website to a place dedicated to St. Therese. I read all about her and instantly felt a connection. I said that if I would ever become Catholic I would choose her as my patron Saint. Two and a half years later, I did become Catholic. St. Therese has done so much for me in the time that I’ve known her. I know she’s always heard my prayers.

St. Therese Heals my Aunt Mary’s Cancer
My aunty was diagnosed with breast cancer. I went to her home with a 1st class relic of St. Therese. Her daughter-in-law said that my aunty and uncle were attending Mass at the parish church. My husband and I then drove down to the church. Mass has just ended. I looked down the hill, and I could see my aunty and uncle leaving the church.

As soon as I saw them I smelt the heavy scent of roses. There were no roses nearby. My aunty was subsequently healed of cancer. It is a well documented fact that St. Therese sometimes allows people to smell roses in connection with her miracles.

**Novena to St Philomena the Wonder Worker for the healing of autism: **

Each person (who has autism) whose name is sent to be included in this novena, will be prayed for regularly by a priest of Lourdes, France at the grotto. Only the first name of the person is needed for the purpose of this novena. Everyone is invited to send names: parents, grandparents, teachers, doctors, aunties, therapists etc.
 
I used to be kind of indifferent to St. Therese since the way she was presented back when I was a child was too sweet and gooey for my tastes. I tend to like tougher saints. But when I became an adult, I realized that St. Therese was far from being gooey sweet. She was strong and had plenty of common sense.
 
I love the Little Flower. When I finished the novena, I found a bookmark with a picture of a little girl (very similar to St Therese) with roses all around it. Now, everytime my mini roses start blooming in the garden, I think of her.

Saints are so important gift to us. They set great examples for us to follow.

Sometimes, one thinks that it is enough to follow Jesus and thus never thinks of those who have already followed Jesus. Little does he knows that Jesus has placed them ahead of him so that he can follow.

Following the Saints, in my opinion, is a humble way of following Jesus.

I like to think I have some experiences but I am not so sure if there was any Saint involved. Anyway, one day after work, as I was praying the rosay and getting into my car to drive home, I smelled roses in my car for 30 seconds to 60 seconds. The smell was so sweet. Another occassion was that in my dream, I smelled roses in my bedroom. I never had any dream in which I could smell anything - and this dream happened during the time I pray the novena of St. Therese. It could all be my imagination - I don’t know. 😊

My wife and came across the strong smell of flowers on our back deck after my mother passed away. It was a ten foot circle of smell you could walk in and out of. I have always thought that our Lady was comforting me as I had just been thinking of the fate of my mom. How do we know the difference between the intercession of Our Lady and St. Therese? Or can we? Thank you all for your response’s. This will give me more confidence during this novena. Tim

I always like to read your posts, you have such a beautiful simplicity and humility.

I just wanted to say something for your peace of mind if that’s alright with you:

If we say every spiritual experience is explained as down to the fancy of the mind (and I could kick my mind at times its so hard to subject it to the will) then we are to some extent eradicating God from our modern world. If I say I believe Jesus is Present in the Eucharist that is true and if I was to experience His Presence in the Eucharist then this is equally true.

These very real experiences of Jesus and His Saints help those to see who go by faith though they do not see with their eyes as the Apostles did. And even if Jesus was to appear to you now you would have similar doubts as to whether you really saw Him, so you would not have seen as the Apostles saw and it still requires faith.

The thing is to believe you have experienced Jesus, it is very right and proper to believe you have experienced Jesus, we are all to experience God, but what we must not do is cling to these experiences above God who is not the experience, but is God. When we experience God it is for a good reason, but we do not experience God as He is, these experiences are not God, but a little imparting of Himself to us creatures.

Treasure these gifts from God and thank Him and put them to good use in your life, but don’t make them a ‘god’, I believe that is the healthiest way to see these things.

Thank you blessedstar for you comment. Working on humility is so hard as I fail doing it from time to time; however, I have learned a great deal from my closed friends and those of us on this forum.

At one point in my life - not too long ago - when I was looking for some “more” extraordinary experiences, my mom reminded me not to. She told me to use the things that had happened to me for my spiritual growth but do not get so caught up in “seeing in order to believe”. She means that I should not seek for extraordinary experiences but try to ask for faith instead.
 
I hope no one considers this bragging, but a chance to fulfill a promise… St. Therese, my Carmelite Sister, I will fullfill your plea “to be made known everywhere” and I will continue to lead others to Jesus through you. Amen. From the invocation to St. Therese
