No, it isn’t. She can always hear you as God allows her to. However, your praying doesn’t get answered does prove that she cannot hear you.

It is nothing really complicated as you know you pray to God and sometimes your prayers don’t get answered the way you wanted.

BTW, I subscribe to this website and I get St. Therese’s saying daily. I am sure you would love it:

Because other people have been heard gives me reason to believe I will get one too.

Right after I received a Yellow Rose and my girlfriend got a full time job (these are the things I had asked for during the Novena to St. Therese). I was very tempted to ask for another rose for another purpose, and it never happened. - but who knows that God answered me different way, I have jsut not realized it yet.

I *lost * my christian faith by listening to the Saints of hellfire and brimstone. I can feel a spark coming back by the confidence of this Little Flower and the way in which she speaks of God’s Love as if its the only thing that matters.

I’m going ahead with the novena. I’ll let you know how it goes. :knight2:

Pray for this spark. We all need it - everytime I read stories about how others have come back or try/want to their Christian faith, it gives me the same spark which strengthens my faith.

People who try to destroy others confidence and bring them down. What is the purpose of this? Trying to spread a safety net to avoid damage of a false promise? Why say she has never failed, when it seems like you guys are trying to warn me of a coming fall?

Well I’m not sure? I feel I have been accused of wanting to go on a bashing spree and verbal attack, of putting up an ultimatum to “prove or disprove” her sainthood and trying to change that the Church has called her a Doctor … or something along those lines.

But why should I care. One thing I particularly liked about her was her daring confidence to be loved and heard by God … even to the point of sheer foolish audacity If she can have that, than I can too.

Hey! hearing you loud and clear and you are so right, Therese started of so spirited and from a house where she was given much and so much done for her. She was at first it seems much like you and that’s not wrong. But it’s the place where God is asking for the turn back to Him to happen.

It was ***God’s will ***that He give Therese a spirit that was so full of understanding of God’s love. *Therese never stumbled upon anything *you can believe it, God knew the time she was to be born, the time when God would need a person to give that love to, a time when the world would be suseptable to such a simple treat of littleness, of pure childlike purity.

A person who would come out of a home where God’s love would be manafest into people needing another look at what God ment when He said “unless you become like a little child” It was not Therese but God and Therese knew that, the first time she read in the bible “God is love”, the same love she was treated to by her family.
God gave her that thirst that will power that desire to want to need to exorst all places there could be inthe church until she found it, and that is when she said “I have found my place in the church, I am to be LOVE”
The point here is,…is God asking you the same question, are you ready to leave the world that you know in your humanness, and take up another road of littleness, and follow Him, and be love how He is love in a littler way, to become less significant, to smile over the things others do that are negative and should not happen, to smile with the feeling of God inside you because as others hurt each other you can still see God in those situations.
I have many roses given from Therese and in ways that should never have happened from people who should never have given them to me and for reasons that should never have been.

But …that is God’s way, so much higher than mans ways. Don’t forget Therese is spirit and spirit is not just a person but has gone back into the heart of God pure and without taint from our thoughts or whims.
Therese gives in a Godly way not with human emotion, but pure love. When a rose comes it is because she relates not to humanness but because she understands the heart behind your actions.

You would come to understand the “party poops” people who were trying to share what they understand in faith with your faith someday.

The purpose of this is to pray with patience, understanding and humility.

It is not false promise and no one is lying to you or trying to bring you down or trying to destroy your confidence - We speak of the truth. Do you expect to ask St. Therese to hit a jackpot if you are told she had never failed to answer your prayer? You need to understand what it means when “she has never failed”.

There are more than just asking in praying. Remember that Jesus asked God to free Him from the cup only if it is the Father’s will. When we ask anything of God or for the intercession of the Saints, our prayers should be according to God’s will. St. Therese answering to our prayers is also by the will of God.

Sounds to me like if you dont get a rose then you will be bashing a saint and say that the saints dont listen and what not. Not a good idea in my opinion.

And on my prayer chain also, you however have to rest assured that God is a merciful God and He is not one to condemn when a persons mind is being tortured, He considers their heart.

Do you believe in the communion of saints?

Do you believe that your prayers can be heard by the saints?

Lets say, Mary for instance.

I have started the Novena, this is the 2nd day. I’m going through with it because God knows my intentions and they are and were not the conclusions people jumped to.

The conclusions reached about me were hurtful, but I’m going to see what the Little Saint has to say.

I was bought up in the catholic Faith - though in a very jansenist mind-set … never-ending penance, fasting and believing you are bad and rotten to the point of making self-hate an art.

I did believe in the Communion of saints - a communion of overlords who despise you, train you and put up with you much like a rotten rag. And eternally point out your every fault. I did believe prayers can be heard by saints but you have to be very careful how you word yourself or they take it the wrong way and you will have to do penance.

Mary? - she was the Queen of this mob. She is too holy for me so I never prayed to her except by default in the rosary. I persevered in this faith, until I became very ill. I then left this catholicism because it was killing me.

I have recently read Story of a Soul and I viewed a saint as something of a friend, though I’m not sure. I want to ask if St Therese will be my friend, but I’m not counting on it since I understand that sometimes the answer is no, as you have pointed out. Still I want to try.

After all the damage the catholic faith did to me, a little more won’t be too bad.

Hi uglygal, thank you for sharing more about what you had gone through. However, from what I have read on this thread so far, it seems to me that you are not clear on what people were trying to tell you or we were all miscommunicating with each other.

All Saints in Heaven are our friends whether you ask them to be or not. If I remember it correctly, you wanted to ask for the rose and that was, at least I thought, your intention.

If you had said you wanted to ask her to be your friend, I am 100% sure everybody would say she has been. Those in Heaven are day and night praying for us.

If you asked for the rose, then the answer is whether you will get it or not is unknown.

While all of us are trying to talk in a loving way, you need to let go of the thought people are trying to bring your down or hurt you. It won’t help you this way.
