I was wondering, I would like to better my religious understanding (for both my own understanding and for others) and would like to aply sort of deductive reasoning to things like one of my heros, St. Thomas Aquinas, and was wondering if anyone here could help me out with this project? What would be some could Logic books for the layman (please nothing that is writen like it is for someone who already has a graduates degree) on this. Thanks and God bless.

Sorry, can’t help you; but I thought I’d let you know I’ve been wanting to do the very same thing for a few years now and I haven’t found anything yet.

There are “Introduction to Logic” texts out there (Amazon.com or the nearest college bookstore) but nothing I’ve found geared towards Thomists.

The beginning of these texts, though, are based on Aristotle’s logic, which is where Aquinas started. The texts typically veer off into algebraic logic after 5-6 chapters or so.

Several primers to Aquinas’ Summa are available, fortunately, Peter Kreeft’s “Summa of the Summa” comes to mind first.

Sorry I couldn’t help you. If you do find one, please let me know by sending me an e-mail via the personal profile of me on this forum. It would be greatly appreciated.

Good luck!!
