Why was St. Thomas Aquinas’s feast day moved from March 7 to January 28 after Vatican II? Thank you

Usually March 7th is in Lent, which would prevent the proper celebration of the Patron of the Catholic Schools. Above that Ss Perpetua and Felicitas were moved back to their traditional day of celebration.

My single volume Christian Prayer notes that Jan 28 is the anniversary of the transfer of his body to Toulouse in 1369.

As laszlo points out, it is in fact largely about Perpetua and Felicity. When St. Thomas Aquinas got his feast day on March 7, their traditional feast day, they were moved into “commemoration” status, thus making them less prominent in the calendar. Eventually in 1908 St. Pius X moved their feast day to March 6. With the new liturgical calendar the Church wished to restore these the traditional feast day devoted to these two great martyrs.
