My darling and I have been married for over 15 years. I love St. Valentine’s Day! I make him a strawberry cheesecake (at various points in our marriage I made red velvet cake, but he prefers the cheesecake now), and we try to go on a little date around then. It doesn’t matter what. We just like the time set aside for each other. <3 <3
Cheesecake! Is it strawberry topped, or is it actual cheesecake part strawberry flavored?

Valentine’s Day has always been my favorite holiday even when I was (gasp) single. I make all of my family, friends, and of course my husband cards and use it as an opportunity to let them know that I love them. Also my husband and I usually make a nice meal together and even bake cookies together. It is nice to spend time together and cherish each other’s company. We don’t need all the commercialized stuff, we just use it as a special day to show our love.

I’ve always used St. Valentine’s day to celebrate all the different people I love in my life. I usually bake cookies or cakes for my friends and family and take time to go visit the ones I can that day. The others I gift in the week surrounding it. I like to think of St. Valentine’s day as an excuse to remind all of the peopel I care about how special they are to me. Afterall, everyone enjoys being told you appreciate them, not just your special someone! 😃

Please don’t forget the day. It is sweet and nice to get a Valentine and give them too. ❤️

For those intent on giving roses, order them NOW. I worked in a florist. The line was out the door with all the last minute guys :tsktsk:rushing in to buy them. What they got at that time was not the best. The good ones with the big heads were long gone. But they settled and shelled out the big bucks for some real crummy flowers. :crying: Trust me…you’ll be mad you waited so long and your sweetheart, upon seeing the posies, will know you rushed in after work.

A stuffed animal, box of chocolates, and a card are always nice too especially if she can tell you spent some time selecting. And we can tell. 🙂

And yes, hubby always gets a special dinner on that day too. He is not ignored.

We make it an excuse to go out for supper. Other than that, I have no use for it. If it falls on a weekday, I usually spend the day helping a handful of poor kids frantically stuff the tiny envelopes the guidance counselor scrounged up for them since their parents can’t be bothered to help them make valentines for their classmates. I found out that the office staff can easily print stickers with the kids’ nicknames on them with just a few clicks on their computers, so we intend to use their help to finish the last minute valentines in time for the party this year. I’m looking forward to that. I’ve never like valentine’s day. Those little heart candies taste like dried up toothpaste.

As a kid, I use to enjoy giving all my friends little valentines.

As an adult, I always though ‘Who wants to be in a restaurant on a crowed day?’

But when I was in a relationship, and the guy told me he did not want to spend a lot of money on valentines, on the outside I agreed, but on the inside I was hurt. We had been dating for 6 months and he never treated me to anything over $2 unless his buddies were around. I was hoping there could be one day I could be special. It just confirmed that Feb 14 is NOT the day to be good to your significant other, you should do that every day

Because it is not an equitable thing. Did you know most phone calls are made on Mother’s Day? **And! Most collect **calls are made on Father’s day!

🤷 Wassup wi dat!?

It is about time the women start to pony up! 👍
Excuse me while I finish choking…it’s time for the women to do what?!? Maybe a lifetime of “ponying up” is why people call their moms? Why did my dad take my mom out to a restaurant and not the other way around? Because when given the choice, my dad would rather have Mom’s cooking than the cooking at a restaurant!

Let’s just say this: it isn’t the mothers’ fault because guys get into the end zone and don’t say “Hi, Dad!”

I wanted to ad while mothers are female and fathers are male, children come in both genders.

If the statistic is true, it doesn’t mean that daughters (the women) are all calling their dads collect, while sons (the men) are all calling their moms.

I actually think collect calls have gone the way of rotary phones.

Not going to lie, I understood about 1% of that post.

Last Valentines Day was awful! A really good friend sent me a card that made my guts churn with awkwardness - because I just did not - definitely - categorically - feel attracted to him (well, I did…a tiny bit…but he sent such a tacky card) I felt the rug had been pulled from under my feet. I mean - how dare he decide he wanted to be more than friends?!

I had a long talk with him and explained all the reasons why it could never work…

I’m sure you can guess the rest ;)👍

My husband and I have been together for a total of 18 years. We’re past the “need” for a big production. I tell my husband he has to acknowledge the day, but I am content with a sweet card.
My wife and I have been together for a total of 42 years and when she tells me she’d be content with a sweet card…I better get flowers too :flowers:
