In The Book of Numbers, Chapter 17 Verse 17-18 states:
Code: 
   Mark each man's name on his staff; and mark Aaron's name on Levi's staff,    

 What other sign of identification might be marked on the staff?

Judah in Gen 38 gave a staff with cord and seal that identified the staff as belonging to Judah.
