Utah Ken:
We seek to help build a culture of life in which our nation will no longer try to teach that killing is wrong by killing those who kill.
You are evading the inherent paradox in your argument.

We teach that killing is wrong by imprisoning those who are convicted of killing.

And yet prisoners continue to kill. So imprisoning some folks does nothing to teach them not to kill.

Meanwhile the issue which you continue to ignore is how do you protect the innocent from being killed by prisoners?

By your logic, we are teaching that we can kill while we are in prison. So if a person really wants to kill, he or she only has to have him/herself imprisoned.
Utah Ken:
This cycle of violence diminishes all of us.
Illogic, inconsistency, and misinterpreting legitimate self-defence diminishes all of us.

You have evaded the question of protecting the innocent. And that diminishes your argument.

It is not true that many families of murder victims don’t want revenge. I belong to Parents of Murdered Children. Most of the people I have met at these meetings want revenge. They feel it will bring closure to them. I don’t think anything can bring closure to something so evil.

If we are serious about keeping these criminals from killing other victims we must all work to change the system. Most of us want a quick fix. How many here are willing to get involved in real change?

We are one of the few families who do not want revenge, we pray for our son’s killers. Some of us forget they also have families who are greiving for them. I can’t even imagine the pain of having a family member on death row.

If you want to help make a change go to POMC.com we need you.

I’m sorry, but the greiving family of death row inmates will just have to greive. Even if they had nothing to do with the way their family member turned out, they’ll just have to live with it. Just like the family of murdered innocent people will just have to live with it. It’s a crock.

Meanwhile, whatever society decides, I have to pay for it. My taxes get used to house this evil person. So if we give the ones who deserve the death penalty life in prison instead, I have to pay for it! I don’t mind paying for criminals to be locked up, but I don’t want to pay for the ones who deserve the death penalty. I don’t think it should take 20 years to kill them either. Give them a year or two to try and prepare an adequate appeal, then, if found to be guilty still, get it over with. Stop penalizing me for stuff some evil leach on society did.

I know this opinion will not set well with many. It’s just my opinion. I’ve seen and done enough in this world. Some people just need killing.

I appreciate your reply, I continue to disagree with it. Also please note that the quotes you referenced are not mine, They are from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.

Please explain: How do we protect the innocent from predators?

Maybe you can find something written by the USCCB or maybe not. But it shouldn’t be difficult for you to explain how to protect the innocent?

It is fine to disagree, but where does that leave us as a society?

If those guilty of heinous crimes cannot be prevented from killing again, then where are we?

Way off subject on this one, but, Mr. Williams was still active if his gang even after he wrote his books. I saw earlier in this post that someone tried to point this out and was questioned on it. For those people who don’t belive it call the State Attorney Generals office and ask to speak to the Victim Advocates that work with the families on Death Penalty cases. They would be happy to tell you all what Mr. Williams was really about. Don’t judge a book by it’s cover.

I don’t like the thought of anyone dieing because of the death penelty. I don’t like the thought of anyone going to hell either. Some things we don’t make the descion for, the person themself does. They have choosen their life plan.

The question was not whether or not you agree with my reply.

The question was how do propose we protect the innocent from those in prison who would murder them?
