Stand or kneel during the consecration?

Good morning, my question concerns standing vs. kneeling during Consecration. Our parish church was built in the seventies and does not have kneelers. Years ago the Bishop gave permission for the people to stand during Consecration, but now there are some standing and some kneeling and recently it has been explained to me that such a break in the unity of those celebrating Mass can be considered a “schismatic act”. The present pastor has not made a definitive public statement, but has allowed the people to do as they feel called. My understanding is that kneelers are in the budget for this year… What is the correct thing for us to do in the mean time?
