For Deacon Ed, or anyone with documentation–

The GIRM instruction # 43 states to stand from the Invitation (Pray, brethern), yet it seems to have been interpreted as to stand from the response.(May the Lord accept) Which is correct?

Also any documentation for the reason? I could only find GIRM 35 referenced.

1. The acclamations and the responses of the faithful to the priest’s greetings and prayers constitute that level of active participation that the gathered faithful are to contribute in every form of the Mass, so that the action of the entire community may be clearly expressed and fostered.47

We stand at the invitation at our parish. In fact, Father’s does his move to the Orans position with a ‘ok stand now’ type gesture.

This is a practical issue. The directives to “stand from the Oratre, fraters” is not clear – do you stand starting at or at the end of the invitation? After discussion with the bishop’s liturgy committee, most bishops agreed that it meant “at the end of the invitation” since, to stand at the start, would drown out the invitation to prayer with the sound of people standing. Therefore, the priest invites the people to pray and, in most parishes, then signals the people to stand before they respond “May the Lord accept…”
