Standing during Consecration at Easter

Can anyone shed some light on this subject?
During the Easter Vigil Mass last year, our priest, out of the blue, announced that it is a conventional norm that the faithful – only at Easter Vigil Mass – remain standing during the Consecration. I wanted to discuss this with him, but first I wanted to do some research. Well, I turned up nothing, either for or against. Does anyone have any idea where in the world he may have gotten this idea?
I find it extremely hard to believe that what he said was true…

From the General Instruction of the Roman Missal, in n. 43:

“They should kneel, on the other hand, at the Consecration, except when prevented on occasion by ill health, or for reasons of lack of space, of the large number of people present, or for another reasonable cause.”

So the Easter Vigil Mass may have a particularly large congregation, justifying standing in that case.

No such thing.

There were some ancient practices of not-kneeling during Easter time, so it’s not entirely fabricated.

However, there is no such norm in contemporary Catholic practice.
