I have a question that I would appreciate clarification on. This norm released by the USCCB in March 2002 related to the GIRM read:
160. The norm for reception of Holy Communion in the dioceses of the United States is standing. Communicants should not be denied Holy Communion because they kneel. Rather, such instances should be addressed pastorally, by providing the faithful with proper catechesis on the reasons for this norm.
Doesn’t this sentence in **bold **directly deal with the reception of the Eucharist by the individual from the Ordinary or Extraordinary Ministers??? Why I ask is I have had discussions with Catholic friends who said it also referred to standing before (i.e. after the Agnus Dei) and through the after Communion refelctive period. That is not the intent of the above, correct??? Thanks and God Bless.
