So my friends jokingly made a comment that I dress like a nun. It was meant to be funny, not hurtful, but…

I got a little annoyed. Being a nun is perfectly fine but basically they said that because I wear jeans/long pants to school, and I’m the only one (besides a couple of overweight girls, no I’m not being mean, they literally say they cover up as it is more flattering) who doesn’t wear short shorts?? Or flip flops to school…

Someone even made a comment that I’m wasting my body? What does that mean?! My body is still intact lol!

It’s kind of annoying. I’m no queen of modesty, I like skinny jeans, and some of my tops are fitted, but they kind of laugh me off as some sort of conservative nun hmm

Siiigh. How do you deal with people like this? They aren’t horrible people, they are just annoying

Well, people can be annoying sometimes.

Ignore them.

Don’t even dwell on what they say. It takes practice but soon it will be just background noise to you.

This skill of ignoring opinions shoved at you will come in handy when you come across even more annoying people than your friends.

You don’t even need to reply.

Just move right along.

(But I personally would say something like, “A nun in skinny jeans? Whaaaat?”)

Don’t worry about these comments! Good for you that you don’t just “do what everyone else is doing”!

I’m going to sound soooo old, BUT some of the fashions today…REALLY??? I always tell my daughter that just because you have a cute figure, it doesn’t mean you have to wear shirts down to there or shorts up to there. Remember, you teach people how to treat you by the way you dress. (Unfortunate, but true.)

My daughter (17 yrs old) made the comment that one of her aunts (45 yrs old) dresses like a prostitute. I asked her what she meant and she said, “You know, like a 16 year old girl.” Her words not mine!!

Keep taking the high road!
Peace and all good!

Don’t bother. Modesty is beautiful. Many men respect conservative nuns more than immodestly dressed woman.

Skinny jeans, fitted shirts, and decent shape?
Sounds good and not nunny…

Rock on as you

I deal with these things by ignoring these people.

Shake it off and become the queen of comebacks (charitably, of course). That diffuses a situation faster than showing obvious annoyance.

P.S. I tell my 8yo daughters to do this every.single.day when big bro is trying to pester them. It works 99% of the time 😃

I’d take it as a compliment that I’m not dressed like the world. The fashions today are very immodest and we have no obligation to follow them, in fact I think we would be correct in not following them… 🤷

I usually say stuff like “I gotta cover up to give you guys a chance in getting any sort of male attention”.

They absolutely love my comebacks though, so they keep pestering 😃

Then just take it all tongue and cheek. Keep a sense of humor which will serve you well in life 😃
