Is it protocol for everyone to stand when the gospel is heard outside the Mass. Because everytime we start the day in my school, we read the gospel. I noticed the other classes stand up. In our classroom we remain seated.

I don’t think there are any official rules about what you do when you read or hear the Gospel outside the liturgy (e.g. Mass).

I wouldn’t worry about it either way.

Sometimes if I arrive late for class and as I pass by the other classrooms.

Perhaps the teacher in your class is not Catholic? I know that not all teachers in our school are Catholic, and they may not know the protocol. If you do not know, don’t ask, but rather speak to your school principal in private.
