I like all the TNG characters, especially Picard. I think he was an exceptional Star Fleet Captain.
In Voyager, I like The Doctor, Seven and Captain Janeway. I am a huge fan of Kate Mulgrew anyway.

I didn’t like many of the TNG characters.
Picard painted, studied archaeology, played music, rode horses, acted in plays…surprised he didn’t have a ponytail and wear patchouli. He was too much of an anti-Kirk for my taste. I saw him as more of a Captain Stubing on a heavily-armed Love Boat than a kick-butt Starfleet captain.
Riker kind of bugged me because he reminded me of a lot of officers I used to know. Overall, his character was judgemental, nasty to subordinates he didn’t approve of and a bit of a suck-up to the Captain.
Deanna: “I sense no deception in these Ferengi, who I can’t read anyway, but I forgot that. Now look at my cleavage.”
Wesley was a whiney pain. I have never liked the juvenile add-ons to various TV series. He was the Trek equivalent of Scrappy-Doo.
On Voyager, I liked the Doctor because he was entertainingly annoying, like Q or Harry Mudd.
I liked Seven because I am a straight male.

I’m going by memory here, but in one of the later TNGs, when Seven is raising the four Borg kids, the eldest one says something about how he doesn’t like some situation or some duty that she was asking him to take on. (I can’t remember what the situation was.)
I thought she showed great parenting, when she turned to him and simply said, “You will adapt.”

Oh, dude! I had an Enterprise model too, and a toy phaser (looked like the TOS phasers) that shot little propeller thingies across the room. I’m pretty sure I still have that!Oh, yeah. I loved TOS. I had one of those Enterprise model kits too: and yes, I played with it till it broke.
I also had a pair of Star Trek binoculars (white plastic with orange trim, as I recall), and a Star Trek gun (not a phaser, per se: it was blue, it fired multi-coloured discs the size of a penny).

Let’s compare my Top 10 TOS list…
No one likes the two “children” episodes (“Miri” and “Children Shall Lead”). If I had to do Top 5 I would narrow down to:
“The City on the Edge of Forever” (Joan Collins episode)
“I, Mudd”
“The Trouble With Tribbles”
“Assignment: Earth” (Gary Seven)
“All Our Yesterdays” (Mr. Atoz and Atavrochron episode)
Others mentioned I’ll agree are top 20 at least:
“Dagger of the Mind” (because of the acting of “Van Gelder” and the effects of the mind-emptier).
“The Doomsday Machine” (the acting of Comm. Decker, this one I’ve seen on most people’s Top 10, you have the planet killer giant tubular log thing, some shuttlecraft, and the “tense” music everyone likes).
“Where No Man Has Gone Before” an early one, one of the “gods” episodes, all the “god” episodes I like, another is “Who Mourns for Adonais?” (Apollo episode).
“Shore Leave” I forgot about, that one has a lot going on, Alice in Wonderland episode.
“Balance of Terror” is one of the Romulan episodes, and “Amok Time” is the main Vulcan episode, good if you want the background on the Romulans and Vulcans.
“Piece of the Action” (gangster episode, lots of humor) and “Spectre of the Gun” (OK Corral episode) I like for the same reason, guns and back in time episodes.
Other episodes not mentioned are the Kirk (and crew) vs. computer episodes:
“The Changeling” (‘I am Nomad’ episode)
“The Ultimate Computer” (M-5 episode)
“The Apple” (where its a cult sacrificing to Vaal, which is really a computer)
“Return of the Archons” (Landru who is also really a computer)
There are about 3 or 4 more of these type.
There is also the 2-parter The Menagerie which I put in Top 20 at least, but that’s a 2-parter with scenes from the original pilot (you can see the 1964 pilot “The Cage” in the DVD set, or download with UTorrent).
I can’t think of any I would put as the “worst”, some people say “Spock’s Brain” but I liked how he helps McCoy repair his own brain at the end. Maybe the “Hippie” episode might be the worst (“The Way to Eden”), that one occured just on the ship. The ones just on the Enterprise are normally weaker. Also the ones from the Third Season are probably weaker (due to budget cuts critics say).
Sorry I haven’t watched anything much else except Star Trek T.O.S., and maybe a few of the X-Files episodes in the 1990s. I am not a TV watcher.

Actually that was from Voyager.
Voyager was my favorite as it correctly marketed the best villain in the entire Star Trek story line.

Its like Star Wars without the Death Star, Darth Vader and Emperor. Oh actually we know that was like as we did see Episodes 1 and 2!!
Kate Mulgrew, a pro-life Catholic actress, playing Captain Janeway was perfect for the role.
However, while I like Star Trek, Star Wars rules!!

I hated (maybe that’s too strong) Janeway. I thought she was by far the worst captain of the Star Trek shows.
