I wouldn’t have pegged you for a Star Wars fan, Jedi Liz.Didn’t get my ticket yet…I want to take my nephew but my theatre chain’s app is saying it’ll be pg13 and I would hesitate to take my 8 year old nephew if it really is that…I don’t want him seeing revenge of the Sith because of disturbing images. And with all the activities he and his sisters do…they don’t even know what day he could see it…and a large crowd could overwhelm him… since i don’t drive…I can’t just choose a time…
That is enough for some of us to maintain our excitement.I wasn’t impressed with the new trailer - It’s more of the same kind of stuff we’ve already seen in the other trailers. Look! A villain who looks kind of like Darth Vader! Look! A droid that looks kind of like R2-D2! Look! Somebody swinging a lightsaber! Look! Stormtroopers! Look! A TIE Fighter! Look! Harrison Ford!
Fair enough. I have high hopes that the movie will deliver on that front. I’d rather be surprised as much as possible, so I don’t mind the sparse details in the trailers. I’d rather have too little than too much information on the storyline prior to seeing the movie. It’s understandable that they served up this stuff with the teaser trailer. But it’s past time they start demonstrating that this movie actually has a story worth telling, beyond a bunch of recycled ideas from a movie almost 40 years old. So far I haven’t seen that.
But those are just visual cues, or clues. They don’t mean you can evaluate whether the plot of the movie is recycled garbage - we don’t know what the plot or themes of the movie are about. (I just hope the guy talking to Darth Vader’s old helmet isn’t Rick Moranis.)I wasn’t impressed with the new trailer - It’s more of the same kind of stuff we’ve already seen in the other trailers. And those hopes are based on… what, exactly?Fair enough. I have high hopes that the movie will deliver on that front.
That’s exactly what I’m complaining about. The film’s release is set for Dec. 18, just about two months from now. That’s not a long time considering that the first trailer was released last fall, almost a year ago. In the normal promotion/advertising cycle for a major movie, they would not be releasing “teaser” trailers any more, but would be giving important (even if incomplete) information about the plot and the characters.we don’t know what the plot or themes of the movie are about.
To each their own I guess. I thought this was the way every trailer should be. Give just enough to make people want to see more, but don’t give away too much. I think it’s a little strange but nothing that gets my blood pressure up. I understand your point though. That’s exactly what I’m complaining about. I’m tired of being treated like a small child who is expected to start drooling when anyone holds out a piece of candy - “eye candy” in this case. I want something of substance. What is the story, what is it all about? Who are the characters, what is their motivation? We have been given only the barest hints of these things so far.
I was very disappointed in J.J. Abrams’ film versions of Star Trek. I would like to believe he can do a better job with Star Wars but I just haven’t seen any evidence of it yet.
Lore has it that it was based on a Kurosawa samurai movie called “The Hidden Fortress.” I’ve seen said movie but can’t remember much about it.To each their own I guess. And honestly, almost every movie made nowadays is recycled from something made forty years ago. Even the original Star Wars was a pretty generic recycled story of farm boy saving a princess from an evil villain. But it was fun! As long as this movie is fun I’ll be happy.

The Hidden Fortress is about two peasants who (for reasons which I don’t remember) have to escort a princess through dangerous territory back to her kingdom. So that gave Lucas the idea for one part of the plot of Star Wars - not the whole thing obviously.Lore has it that it was based on a Kurosawa samurai movie called “The Hidden Fortress.” I’ve seen said movie but can’t remember much about it.
I noticed it as well. Its stupid looking I think.I noticed on the 12th time watching the trailer that the red slight saber’s base is in the shape of an actual sword.
