Starbucks: not necessarily their opinion!

Hi all, I found this on the Starbucks website - in regards to those who feel that Starbucks supports gay people.
This goes along with the other thread about boycotting Starbucks.
You can go to the Starbucks website & look under the “The Way I See it” link - if you are not too offended to go to their website.

What prompted Starbucks to begin this program?
Starbucks has long been dedicated to creating a unique “third place” between home and work. We also draw on the centuries-old tradition of the coffeehouse as a place to gather, share ideas, and enjoy delicious beverages. We see this program as an extension of the coffeehouse culture – a way to promote open, respectful conversation among a wide variety of individuals.

ok, I went to “the way I see it” the above was posted in the Q & A

I guess if you look at it this way, we can respectfully discuss the fact that promoting the homosexual lifestyle that the theme has on a cup of their coffee really makes you want to hurl, then cool.
I could be drinking their coffee, notice the cup has the quote about the homosexual lifestyle and I can discuss with my friends, family etc. how the Catholic church is against any form of homosexual act and that any homosexual MUST abstain and of course any hetrosexual if not married Must also abstain. 👍
 
What actually started this thread is another one about boycotting Starbucks because of what was written on one of their cups. The quote on the cup was about homosexuals.
If you go to starbucks.com you can click on the “The way I see it” link and it will tell you that the quotes are not necessarily the beliefs of Starbucks, which was the impression I got from some other people.
I love my Starbucks coffee!! 😃

I like Starbucks… I’ve drank more Half Caf Mocha Fraps than I care to count. But, having said that I’m not buying their claim that the “Way I see it” does not necessarily reflect the views of Starbucks. I seriously doubt they would put MY opinion on their cups:

The way I see it Jesus was the promised Messiah who died on the cross for our sins. He said, “I am the way and the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father but through Me.” I believe that any religion that does not recognize Jesus Christ as the Savior, regardless of the sincerity of the followers, is a false religion. While only God can judge the souls of men, it is my prayer that all will come to know Him through His Son Jesus Christ in order to have the hope of eternal life in Heaven.

What are the chances they’d put THAT on a cup??? :rolleyes:

Nevertheless, by allowing it on their cups, they are endorsing it, no matter how remotely.

why don’t you email them & see if they will put it on their cup instead of just assuming they wouldn’t?
 
Wouldn’t that be awesome if they did? And wouldn’t it sort of be discrimination if they refused to? I don’t see why they can “not endorse yet communicate” a homosexual’s “worldview” but not do the same for a Catholic’s worldview!

Other members pointed out that the opinions from the “Way I see It” writers do not necessarily refect the views of Starbucks. Assuming that’s true, we wondered if you would be willing to print MY views on your cups - a view that, given our current society, is politically incorrect, yet shared by millions of Christians worldwide.

I’m not sure. I guess I’ll just have to keep going to Starbucks to see if my view made it… 😉
 
You could call the corporate headquarters, also if they don’t email you. I remember when the Iraq war started and there was a “rumor” about them not sending coffee to the soldiers or something to that effect due to their protesting the war, I called headquarters and got it all straightened out.(wasn’t true) Cause I do love my mint mocha fraps…but right is right and I totally back this idea…

I’d drink a cup of Starbucks with a message like that written on it! (and coffee gives me the jitters, so I don’t drink it, but to support such a message, I’d buy some!)

Not all the quotes are bad. I had one the other day about having faith . . . in the goodness of people along with some other sappy stuff. Totally inoffensive.
