How many of you have seen the DVD Bethelham Star? I think it is the kind of proof of God’s existence and, especially, of Christ’s real presence on this earth, and proof of the validity of God’s Revelation that hits you where belief starts, the mind. You can call this a true scientific proof for all the above. Don’t believe me, watch it for yourself.

It will be shown at 9 A.M., EST, 8 A.M. CST, Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, on EWTN. ewtn.com/multimedia/schedules.asp?weeknum=0&date=01/02/2014&sat=DOME&alerted=1

You can read about the DVD here: bethlehemstar.net/

The author Rick Larson has found the Star which guided the three Wise Men using modern scientific methods to trace the three Wise Men, who were the scientists of their day.

I caught most of it and it blew me away. I am always at awe with stuff like this how it shows God’s intracy in all things.

Yes, I’ve seen it, it’s wonderful. Although I’m sure the presenter is not Catholic, I found it to be really interesting and well researched.
The only thing that bugged me about it was when the presenter clearly referred to Mary, her name was inaudible. Seemed an odd place for the sound to suddenly “go out”. Perhaps I read too much into it.
But it’s a great DVD. Enjoyed it very much.

Watched this last Advent and was absolutely stunned. It of course is simply a theory, but a very amazing and well researched one. I have been meaning to see if it would be replayed this year as it is definitely worth a rewatch. Thank you for the heads up.

God bless and Happy New Year!

I am surprised to hear that this is not new. I would have thought this would have been used before now in this Forum to argue for the existence of God, Christ, and Divine Revelation. Perhaps it was and I just missed it. And why haven’t the skeptics mentioned it?

I caught the tail end. The time at which it was broadcast is also during the prime commute time where I live (and I try not to stream while driving).

But from what I saw it seemed to be a lightly abridged version of this video: youtube.com/watch?v=oGUlWa2r-bk

Want to make sure this is the same thing. In the you tube video that I referenced it was a presentation by a man that was a lawyer that was writing a course for his church on the essentials/core of Christianity. He had a fixation on the star of Bethlehem that started with his daughter asking him to include the star in their yard Christmas decorations.

He was saying that stars carry signs and viewed the apparent movement of the stars and planets as a “celestial poem” about the birth and death of Jesus Christ. He believes that the Magi were following a wandering star (planet) and the the planet they were following was the “king planet” (Jupiter) which happened to be lined up with the star Regulus (meaning “king”) and that the star standing still was an occurrence of retrograde motion.

Is that the same video?

It sounds like the same video. It is an hour long presentation. Sorry you missed it, it was excellent. You can get a copy for $10 but I doubt if you want to do that.

From what I recall after looking into it about a year ago, one thing the success of the video was contingent on was Herod having died at a time later (I think) than most historians tend to attribute to him. I remember listening to a podcast William Lane Craig did on it, and while he seemed open to it, he said that the history did seem a little shaky. :twocents:

Perhaps Craig should review the proof. The author pointed out that the oldest known manuscripts put herods death around one BC rather than four BC and that these documents came to light after the incorrect date had been universally adopted.
