Hello All! Grace and Peace be to you!

I am moving back to a parish that I have belonged to a few years ago. I will be glad to be back ‘home’ at this parish!

I know there are several of us there that would like to start a Traditional Latin Mass in this parish and the associate pastor has indicated his willingness to offer it.

What steps should i be taking to ‘start the ball rolling’?

Thanks!

Peace and Good,

Basil

Does the associate pastor know how to offer the TLM? If he does, that’s a definite plus; if not, it will probably take a few months minimum, even if his Latin is good, for him to become sufficiently familiar with the rubrics. Here are some suggestions:

(1) Ask your priest to offer an introduction to the TLM in the form of some teaching sessions held several weeks before the first Mass.

(2) Train servers. There are some good books available.

(3) Form a schola. This is not as daunting as it might seem at first. If you can find someone who knows music and can sight sing, but does not know Gregorian chant, then send him to the CMA’s colloquium in June (musicasacra.com/)). He’ll then be able to teach others the basics. There are some great resources on the internet for Gregorian chant.

(4) Make sure your church has everything you need for the TLM --altar cards, communion patens, cassocks/surplices and the like.

God bless,

Fr. Boyd
