I’m starting fasting and prayer today, with the intention of becoming more faithful in my own prayer life and getting control over my root sin(s). I’m going to a monastery and staying in cabin with electric but no water. There is daily Mass and a spiritual director available.

This is my third time at this place fasting and praying. The first time I fasted six days and was doing well but a few weeks after I went home, my stepson suddenly died, and I reverted back to my bad habits/lack of faithfulness in prayer and rule of life. The second time, I lasted 4 days when the bugs (beetles and spiders) drove me away…nothing much changed.

I am spiritually lazy and getting desperate in my desire to be a better Christian.

Please pray for me to endure this time and have a spiritual breakthrough. I really want to be close to our Lord.

Thank you to all! I will pray for all here at CAF.

I can relate to having bugs and beetles drive one away! 🙂

Perhaps you can find out what other types of retreats are available where you live?

Be at peace, the Lord is ready, willing, and always available to aid you on your desire to be closer to Him.

May He bless you on your spiritual journey!

Our Father, Who art in Heaven,
Hallowed be thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy will be done on earth,
As it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
Amen. :signofcross:

Hail Mary full of Grace,
the Lord is with thee.
Blessed are thou among women
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb Jesus.
Holy Mary Mother of God,
pray for us sinners
now and at the hour of our death
Amen. :signofcross:

**O My Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of Hell and lead all souls to Heaven, especially those who are in most need of Thy mercy.
Amen.

Prayer Before a Retreat

Lord Jesus Christ, you told the apostles to retire to a desert place and rest a while. I am taking this time to follow your example. Grant that I may obtain all the fruits that I can from this retreat. Enable me to make it in union with you, to know myself better and to get closer to you. Help me to listen attentively, to ponder prayerfully, and to speak wisely. Let me emerge from this spiritual renewal as a more committed Christian, better equipped to advance along the path that you have laid out for me. Amen.

I say the rosary everyday, so today I will offer it up for you. Be patient with yourself…it could be a gradual process to find what you’re looking for in Him who sets us free.

I’m learning to put Him first at the center of my life, & finding that things always tend to fall into place… maybe not the way I’d like, but the best way He knows I need. This summer, I’m going on an individual retreat and to meet with a spiritual director for guidance, peace, and healing. I have no doubt that He will provide for you an enriching, worthwhile retreat in His unique way. Life is much more freeing when we let go of the fear and bad habits that keep us from who we were meant to be.

***Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death
Amen.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle,
be our defense against the wickedness and snares
of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray.
And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the
power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other
evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

St. Thérèse of Liseux Prayer From “Story of A Soul”

May today there be peace within.
May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.
May you use those gifts that you have received,
and pass on the love that has been given to you.
May you be content knowing you are a child of God.
Let this presence settle into your bones,
and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise, and love.
It is there for each and every one of us.

Amen. †

Lord, thank you that you are with me right now.
Your love surpasses all fear.
I give you the anxiety I feel.
I surrender all my worries to you.
Clear my mind;
Calm my heart;
Still my Spirit;
Relax my being, that, I may
always glorify you in everything
I write, speak and do.

Amen. †

Thank you all so very much! This was by far the easiest fast I’ve ever done–the first two days have always been the worst, with constant cravings and hunger and boredom, but now it’s been 4 days and it’s been super great both spiritually and physically. I am sure it is due to all your prayers.

So I’m doing very well, however, I’m ending the fast early because they need the cabin…a little miscommunication about my length of stay, I guess. I have to leave tomorrow (Wed). Oh well. I don’t feel safe driving 4 hrs home while fasting, so I’m breaking it early today with veg juices and will carry on from there.

Thank again for all your prayers and kind thoughts!
