Well, I have finished the first year of theology in the Masters of Divinity program at the Washington Theological Union in Washington, D.C…

After the first year of theology we move into the internship portion of initial formation. I have been assigned to our High School in Tucson, AZ.

Salpointe Catholic High School

I will start out as a teachers aid in the technology classes and will most likely start to teach in the second semester.

The internship is two years. We do this in one of our ministries. I got one of the high schools, others have gone to parishes or even one of our retreat houses.

Congratulations! How much longer do you have before you’re finished?

2 years of internship
3 years to finish the M.Div.

So 5 more years. Our formation takes anywhere between 8 to 10 years.

1 or 2 years of pre-novitiate (I did a year and a half)
1 year novitiate
1 year of the M.Div.
2 year internship
3 years to finish M.Div.

That is the standard, it can change but the novitiate and internship stay. The novitiate is cannonical. The internship could end up being one year instead of two and a couple have asked to do a third year.

We must have a bachelors degree before entering the novitiate so that is completed in the pre-novitiate if one is needed, that is why I did a year and a half. If one has a bachelors degree then they work on the philosophy requirements. This can be waved but then one must finish either their bachelors degree or philosophy requirements before one can start the M.Div. program.

Final vows are made sometime after the internship while finishing up the M.Div., those who are on the ordination track are ordained to the diaconate after the third year of the M.Div. is completed, after graduation comes priestly ordination. We receive lector in the second year of the M.Div. and acolyte during the third year.

Welcome to the crazy heat, I think it’s only supposed to be 108 tomorrow! 😛

Do you all start school on the 17th like TUSD?

Prayers that all will go well for you. :signofcross:

Oh wow, I had no idea! I have much admiration for you. Best wishes for the future. It’s a breath of fresh air to see this type of devotion.

YEAY!!! Congratulations! I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers!

My son is an intern on this website understandingwar.org/
and studying Turkish and Iranian politics in ROTC at Georgetown University.
He’s only 26 and already been to pilgrimage in Israel, traveled to Brazil, married a beautiful girl from Costa Rica and just had his second son!
