O unfathomable mystery of the Holy Trinity! How can we comprehend You? Our eyes do not behold You. Our minds cannot conceive You. In our confusion, do we simply believe as from a distance?
We often hear of the Trinity as a mystery we believe in but cannot understand. Although there is some truth to this, when we contemplate the Trinity, we as “children of the light” (Eph 5:8) do not speak of something light years beyond us, as something unfamiliar to us. We speak of Persons within us, of a Light united *most intensely *to us. Theological tradition has named this phenomenon the Indwelling Trinity. Contemplating this mystery would profit us much.

Even the Catechism of the Catholic Church cites a prayer that she composed and addressed to the Trinity whom she knew dwelled in her soul. The Catechism cites Blessed Elizabeth’s prayer to illustrate the truth that “Even’ now we are called to be a dwelling for the Most Holy Trinity”: 'If a man loves me,“says the Lord, “he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him, and make our home with him.” (Jn 14,23)”

Blessed Elizabeth had a profound and living experience of this great truth of our faith. also expressed in St. Paul’s words to the Corinthians: -Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?’ (1 Cor 3.16) She cites these words as she writes to a friend of hers.
I am going to give you my ‘secret’: think about this God who dwells within you, whose temple you are; St. Paul speaks in this way, and we can believe it.

How amazing it is that the infinite God Almighty can live in our hearts!
“But we hold this treasure in earthen vessels, that the surpassing power may be of God and not from us.” (2 Cor 4:7)

Like Paul said, our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. How precious that God is so near. I may turn to the indwelling Trinity at any time. And wherever I am, my Lord is always with me.

Taste and see the goodness of the Lord, not only outward, but inward also.
Keep a clean heart and strive for holiness. So the Beloved will stay with intimacy.

Blessed Elizabeth’s writings and those of St Paul helped to confirm what I believed that Jesus suffers with His Children in the most intimate way by indwelling them and therefore not only enabling them to carry their cross but also suffering in their cross at such a deep level we cannot imagine (both upon the Cross at Calvary and also in time) and God does great works with these meagre offerings united to His Suffering upon the Cross at Calvary, though I do believe God suffered from the moment of His Incarnation as how unbearable for such Light to enter into such darkness as this world**‘How long must I bear with you?’**, but only in this way did the Light come into the world so that souls may dwell also in the Light and not in the darkness. Jesus constantly enters into darkness to bring His Light and what great a suffering it is for Him, but such is His love and mercy.

Didn’t your spirit ever recoil when you hear of an evil even though we are not as sensitive in spirit as Jesus? Didn’t your spirit mourn the situation? Didn’t you feel the pain in your soul? Didn’t you feel compassion for both the victim of evil and for the soul that committed the evil? Didn’t you desire to pray for both and hope for mercy and healing? Doesn’t your spirit long for evil to cease and for every soul to dwell in Jesus?

Now adopted sons and daughter’s of the Light (that is the Father, Son and Holy Spirit; the Light is in the world and is the Light of the world and those He indwells are a light for the world and when the light endures suffering so too does Jesus) we enter into the mystery of salvation with our daily life and by the grace of the Indwelling God we take ourselves daily into darkness and bring the Light of God establishing the Kingdom; this is only done by the Cross and Living the daily Prayer of our lives united to Jesus in all things.

That first Christmas Night (dare I mention it! ) a single bright star shone in the darkness of the night sky. That blessed star shone so brightly and behaved like no other in the sky. It pierced the darkness and led a path to find Jesus small and at our mercy in a stable. (Just as the lance pierced the side of Christ Jesus upon the Cross suspended in darkness and the Light shone out from His Chest and pierced and broke the darkness of the world, so what was at the beginning so was at the end and so on until the end of time) The light of that star led men and proclaimed the Light of the World in the darkness.

By God’s indwelling we too may dwell in the Light and led each other to Jesus. We are to be like that blessed star forever pointing to Jesus as the Blessed Virgin Mother Mary does whom God so intimately indwelled both in spirit and in the flesh.

I pray and pray not to be a cross to another as this way I drive those nails deeper in the Hands of Jesus myself and I pray not to overlook anyone suffering and to always be merciful.

Hi Blessed Star…You raise an interesting point. That Jesus still has feelings as when He walked this earth (“and grieve not the Holy Spirit of God” - see quotation below from Ephesians)-Jesus remains Truly Man and Truly God. This whole Chapter to the Ephesians is worth reading - it is a plan for life and the work of a lifetime.
Some wonderful saint whose name escapes me said that saints are sinners who won’t give up and this constantly gets me picking myself up through Grace and pressing onwards. The wonder of Grace and also the Confessional is that our sins are not just simply “wiped away” - but it as if they never existed in the first place. This indeed is Loving Compassionate Mercy - heartfelt repentance wins God’s Complete Forgetfulness! If I am to love as God Loves and be Merciful as He is Merciful…I have so far to travel, it aint funny!
What an awesome indeed doctrine is the Doctrine of the Indwelling of The Blessed Trinity!!!
