This is the secular position. Again, I don’t understand what you’re arguing against, because most secularists are are not arguing that no one should be able to have religious expression. They are arguing against administrative favoritism.
That begs the question: why is favoritism necessarily wrong? If the children in an Alabama school district are 99% Protestant Christian, and if the several denominations are in accord, then why should administration not privilege their actvities? Once upon a time, a minister was allowed to reach Bible in such a school, and because the students held pretty much the same views, there was no discord. School policy should pretty much accord with community standards. Our problem today is that especially since NCLB, there is a big push for “Core Standards,” which means that a public school classroom in Alabama is supposed to offer the very same experience as a public school classroom in Manhattan, even though the children in these classrooms come from different “worlds."

It has something to do with that pesky Constitution.

I agree. I do find it strange when people of faith are scared about the state of the world. It shows a lack of faith in my opinion. Relax, enjoy the gift of life.
Gentlemen…rest assured…I’m not scared about the collapse of Western civilization…It will be a great blessing for psuedo-christians, leftist catholics and all the angry Jeremiah Wrights to realize their worldly philosophy…is exactly what St Paul warned about (having a form of godliness [empathy for the weak] but denying the power thereof [Jesus as the Prince of Peace and only way to the Father].
The worldly philosophy of radical liberalism is fear-based....no Christian should sit around worried about the 1%....or envy the power of Apple....or fear Walmart....or global warming. A true Christian SHOULD, however, be concerned with the Leftist indoctrination of their children.

What you are saying goes hand in glove with getting the Federal government out of our schools and letting the local jurisdictions decide such parochial issues.

How are you assessing the threat level of each?

BTW you’re using an informal logical fallacy called “no true Scottsman” en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_true_Scotsman

The Constitution of a federal Republic which gives the central government no role in public education within the states. It does allow it a role in the territories, of course. In allowing Justice Black’s obiter dicta to be accepted as law, of course, the Court has taken upon itself the deny to the states the rights to make law with respect to religion while assuming that the central government, or at least the Court has such right. I regard this as arbitrary as Roe v. Wade’s nullification of the right of the States to regulate medical procedures. But we have discovered that the national elites have decided to use the Court as a means of bending us to their will in all matters. We have that tyrannical aristocracy that Washington was worried about that year before he went to lead an army against it.

Unfortunately, the local schools are on the federal tit. The Doed now has bullions to handout to those educators who jump through their hoops.

Yes, people would take the day off regardless. I know the kids appreciate a day off whatever the reason. 😛 I pointed it out to say that there is no masking that it is a religious holiday, which was what be argued was lacking from a diversity stand point.
west virginia , parts of western maryland, and western pennsylvania take off the first days of deer season.

I can’t think of a single downside for eliminating the DoEd.

Congressmen get browny points for bring federal funding into their districts, even if the money is wasted on football factories.
I can’t think of a single downside for eliminating them either. (the Congressmen, that is)
