in my point of view, Roman Catholics will accept using the nicene-constantinopolitan creed without the filioque as long as it is not viewed as heretical.

The Filioque has dogmatic status, but presumably the other, being perfectly orthodox, is used for that reason. It’s one thing to recognise the just claims of another tradition to its own expressions of faith, and another to mutilate one’s own tradition 😦

Rome is in a mess - liturgical abuses are only a symptom of this. It can’t go on unsaying what it used to be very clear were dogmas to be believed on pain of nothing less than excommunication. So much for Rome’s “unchanging faith” Why can’t it be honest, instead of lying to Catholics all the time ? :(😦 This is the same manipulativeness as led to all those scandals.

By all means let the Orthodox leave out a phrase they never admitted - but anyone, pope or priest or ecumenist, who expects us Romans to drop what for us is a dogma, can go to Hell

I believe the next Joint Catholic-Orthodox Commission is going to address the primacy issue.

I’ll accept what ever the commission agrees to as long as my bishop does also.
I wouldn’t expect that commission to come up with anything concrete the first time out. It will probably be a lot of fluffy language crafted to make everyone feel encouraged. 😃

And then they will state they will have further talks on it in the future 😉
I think that out of all the Eastern Churches Russia will be the hardest to unite with, but our lady has a special place for Russia in her heart, so maybe you’re right.
Whether anyone is satisfied probably depends upon how one defines unity. There are different models for unity, and we all tend to come at it with our own presuppositions.

Don’t hold back, let us know exactly what you think 😃

All kidding aside, I don’t think Orthodox can share communion under these terms.

And Orthodox do not “leave out” the filioque (as if it was somehow removed), Orthodox simply do not accept it and do not insert it. We are already exactly where you propose we should be, so there’s nothing else to do! 🙂

I’m not sure about the CC-EO commission, but the CC-OO commission meets yearly at the end January.

Blessings
I understand that the CC-OO commission meeting was very sussecfull, but I was unable to get any draft of what was settled.
