I’m writing about a Passion play, but all four Gospels seem to skip stations 2-4 and go right from Pontius’ sentencing to Simon. Where are the other stations?

Hmm I don’t have specific passages, but I recall one verse, within the same sentence or so following where Pilate condemns Jesus to death (following the scourging and crowning with thorns), and Jesus is carrying the cross in the next line. This could be the second station.

I know “Veronica wipes the face of Jesus” is not in the Bible at all and is something upheld through tradition. I imagine the same could be said of these stations 2-4, though I don’t have a source for you to confirm them.

Station 2: Jesus carries his cross is John 19:17

Stations 3 & 4 Jesus falling and meeting his mother are known through tradition. For a general history of the Stations of the Cross see the following CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: Way of the Cross

Actually Jesus meeting his mother happened at some point because she is there at the foot of the cross. So although this meeting is not specifically mentioned, it obviously took place at some point after his trial.

The wiping of the face is in Mark. At least in douay version.

It’s the Douay Rheims bible. It’s the bible Catholics used before Vatican I I. It’s in English. I prefer this version because newer versions leave out some passages, and it wasn’t converted to make it PC.

There’s a lot more to newer Bible translations than Political Correctness, including omitting wording not present in the most ancient manuscripts available currently. WhatI is the chapter / verse citation for the Veronica story in Douay?

Oops it’s not in there either. Must of gotten mixed up wIthaca one of my other books I am reading. Sorry.
