Statue of Lou Holtz blessed with Holy Water

Recently Notre Dame had a ceremony unveiling a statue of their old coach Lou Holtz…during that ceremony the statue was blessed with holy water.

My protestant friends have been asking me why that was allowed and honestly i have no clue why a statue of a coach was allowed to be blessed…can anyone give me an answer!!!

Our cars, pets and homes are blessed. Why not a statue of someone they respect?
