The relevant part?
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. (Luke 1:28)

Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death, Amen.
And then you get: “Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit…” And if you’re the type who likes to include it: “Oh my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of Hell; lead all souls to Heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy.”
And yes, the last part is Marian, but pay close attention to it.
Hail holy Queen, Mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope.

I’ll say this again: if you think that Latin Rite Catholics pay too much attention to Mary, you should better have an issue with the Eastern Churches as well. For one, they mention Mary in the Liturgy as well. But it’s also a mistake to think that they “pay too much attention to Mary;” like in the West, the main focus of the Divine Liturgy is the Holy Trinity. Let’s look at the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom, shall we?

What part is wildly misguided? Saying that everything saints do, they do by the power of God? Saying that Christ was obedient to Mary throughout His life (Wedding at Cana)? Saying that saints glorify God eternally in heaven, and thus are our advocates and role models?
Just what about praying to saints (NOT worshiping, but praying to, as in asking them) is misguided? And why has this been a tradition since the early Church?
It seems as though you may be wildly misguided. I’ll pray to Mary, asking that, by the GRACE OF GOD, she opens your hardened heart.

Only in the minds of some who are determined to ignore that the people who are 'praying the rosary" or who pray to God through Mary (and yes that IS going directly to God, and not going to her INSTEAD, as if the two of them are in opposition! How can anybody in heaven be opposed to God?), are NOT praying to God with even MORE FERVOR, praise, and worship.
Honestly, I get indignant as a Catholic woman that somebody would presume to judge my entire PRAYER LIFE based on them seeing me with a rosary in my hand and with a statue of Mary and the child Jesus in my room, and that they would think I spend ‘all my time’ on HER and ignore Him. How unChristian. How narrow-minded, how judgmental, and how WRONG they would be.
The whole focus of the Hail Mary prayer is in its center “the fruit of thy womb, JESUS”. All glory, honor and praise is to God. That God offers US the chance to serve Hiim with the clarity and purpose that is modeled by saintly people is one of His greatest gifts. And by honoring those people, we in turn give GREATER PRAISE to God.

Um, there are a few, actually: Jupiter Verospi, Jupiter of Ocriculum, Claudius as Jupiter, a few reclining Jupiters. They are just in the museums, not in the square, but I would not be at all surprised at anyone having missed them. I spent hours wandering their corridors and only saw the tiniest fraction of their collection.

As to this thread, are statues biblical? Yes. Statues are in the bible. They are refered to as graven images. And gods man hezekiah(2kings 18) got rid of all the images in Israel. Anyone who has bothered to open the old testament knows god had a running battle with graven images. Oh, but now they are OK. God changes not. Sound familiar?
