On FB there are PLENTY of people posting that the Notre-Dame Cathedral has PEDOPHILE statues in the Cathedral and some had been removed a few days before the fire. Has anyone seen this post that’s circulating, I was going to grab it but I blocked a few of those who were posting this.

I would like to educate family and friends that NO these statues were not the evil ones. Can someone please tell me where those evil statues were from, I know they aren’t from inside the Cathedral AT ALL.

This is baloney. Block it, hide it, whatever you have to do with it, and forget about it.

Notre Dame did not contain “pedophile” statues. If it had, don’t you think some of the millions of tourists who were traipsing through the place before it burned would have noticed such statues by now and made them go viral?

I haven’t seen a post about this once. I’ve seen plenty stating the Catholic Church is the wealthiest in the world and not to donate to the Notre Dame restoration fund … Blah blah blah. There are no “pedophile” statues in Notre Dame. What does that even mean? I would just block them and move on.

Which, as I’ve pointed out on at least one of these posts, is a completely moot point since the Catholic Church does not own the building and does not have any right or responsibility to do maintenance or building on its structure, much less to pay for that.

Yes, I stated as much on my personal FB page. A UC Berkely historian aptly said that watching Notre Dame burn was like watching the destruction of library of Alexandria. How people got their knickers in a twist over the faith of Notre Dame and forgot about it’s collective history and testament to man’s creative and intellectual ability is beyond me. I happily donated. You don’t get to be a part of restoring something so monumental everyday.

One of the photos circulating, I had saw they said the Vatican is part of the Notre Dame building. Lol. It’s comical the lengths people go to misinform and slander. I’m trying to set those close to me straight, who had seen this post.
Some of those statues looked like there were horns or something though. I do know they have nothing to do with Catholicism!

The statues were quite sexual in nature, others had horns - something about Baphomet too.

These? If it’s the gargoyles people are referring to, they lack education in both religion and history.

I think the best thing you could do is block and unfriend these people on social media. There is sometimes a level of ignorance that you just cannot break through. Pray for them, but unfriend and block them.

Although it seems as necessary as breathing these days, you are well advised to ignore FaceBook.

You cannot refute a made up, irrational and hate-filled argument. You cannot prove that something did not happen, only that it did.

If you must engage such intellectual primitives, demand proof.

Yes those are blocked I had said. Just looking for information on these types of statues in the London or Rome area to educate close family and friends, thank you.

Or perhaps its in reference to ‘grotesques’. They can be quite vulgar and they are all over many medieval cathedrals.
Oh wow hmm! What are these or do you have anymore info, are they actually called ‘grotesques’? This might be what were pictured. Thank you!

‘Grotesques’ are what they’re referred to architecturally speaking. You can probably image search on the term, “medieval grotesques” or the like and get an idea of what they’re like. Some are so awful I wouldn’t describe them here.

Think Hieronimous Bosch-level kind of weird.

I feel your pain, Maezck. Earlier today a relation of mine posted a small snippet of video that what was supposed to be a member of another religion allegedly walking away from where the fire broke out. It turned out to be a firefighter. Let us all pray for an end of hatred, ignorance, and knee-jerk reactions

Thank you for this clue, yes I was trying to be so careful on here trying to name what I was referring to. Thanks again this helps, I’ll bet those are them.

True ignorance!
first, in france, churches built before 1905, like notre dame of paris are proprieties of state!
second, it needed a lot of money to rebuild what it had been burned! two foundations offer 100 millions+200 millions euros, and it don’t stop the creation of suscription!
