What is the status of Gather Faithfully Together, mandated by Cardinal Mahony in 1997.

I know Adoremus did an analysis of it here.

Fr. John A. Hardon did a review on it here:

Review at CatholicCulture here.

Was this ever addressed by a hierarchical body, or the CDW?

Is it active or is it longer viable after the latest GIRM and RS?

Please post all comments and cite sources with links so we may see anything you paste in context.

Thanks.

Interesting article.

I am hoping someone knows what happened to this. It was a big deal in the late 70’s and had to be implemented by 2000.

What ever became of it? Was it fully implemented and are people still following it today?

Ok, just found something which addresses it somewhat. This again, is from Adoremus after Redemptionis Sacramentum came out in 2004. Click me!

“RS” = Redemptionis Sacramentum (I have also emboldened RS)

“GFT” = Gather Faithfully Together.
Code:
-- "If one chalice is not sufficient there is no reason why the Priest celebrant should not use several chalices.... It is praiseworthy, by reason of the sign value, to use a main chalice together with smaller chalices". (RS 105)

Pitchers, flagons, decanters or other such vessels for the Precious Blood are "never to be used":

And another article found here:
Code:
Cardinal Mahony said that he and his auxiliary bishops have visited many parishes, and "have not become aware of any serious abuses". In fact, the cardinal proclaims, "[m]ost of the abuses mentioned in *[Redemptionis Sacramentum](http://www.adoremus.org/RedemptionisSacramentum.html)* do not pertain to the celebration of the Eucharist in our Archdiocese because of our many efforts to provide intensive and extensive training in proper liturgical norms and practice".

I remember reading that and throwing my eyes to the ceiling.
I hope someone can tell us how it all turned out.
