I find my mind wanders terribly while praying the Divine Mercy chaplet. Is there a meditation we’re supposed to be doing while praying, like the Rosary? How do you guys keep focused on the prayer?

For each decade of the chapter I focus on one of the five wounds - that usually keeps me focused.

Similar to the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary, I meditate on the Agony in the Garden, Scourging, Crowning with Thorns, Carrying of the Cross, Crucifixion. You could meditate on any aspect of the Passion you choose. I make a point to meditate with thanksgiving to Jesus for what He suffered.

The Divine Mercy chaplet is not meant to be a meditative prayer. St. Faustina prayed it as she was going about her daily work in the convent. She wasn’t sitting and meditating on it as she prayed. You may meditate during it if you want, but I don’t, because it’s not designed for that. If you would prefer a meditative chaplet, say the Rosary instead.

I personalize it and say a decade for individuals needing prayer. I reflect on the individual intention and take their need to Jesus.
