This Summer I will be going to the Steubenville East Youth Conference for the forth time šŸ‘! I find them to be very spiritually enriching. I was wondering what you folks think of the Steubenville Youth Conferences hosted by Franciscan University across the country each year? Have any of you attended?

Benedictus Deus,

John.

They are awesome. Many of our youth really took a step forward in their faith as a direct result of them.

And yes, the Praise and Worship Music did play a big part of reaching them.

peace be with you! i am going to Steubenville San Diego next month! i think that these retreats are a great tool for youth. i have seen many, many people have life changing experiences there. and all of them say that the best part is Adoration…when they have the Eucharistic Procession. many young people discover how awesome the Eucharist is and what a great gift it is and adore Jesus for the first time.

I attended FUS (then just University of Steubenville) and graduated in the mid- 80’s. I worked at some of the early youth conferences! Served food, cleaned dorms etc. My husband and I met at a summer conference- I worked in the cafeteria and he worked for the maintenance dept. The young people have a great time. --KCT

You will love these youth conferences at Steubenville. We started taking our youth group to them several years ago and the kids just love them. They are a powerful witness to the vitality of the Catholic faith, even in these dark times. Enjoy and God bless.

My two teens just returned a couple of hours ago from the one held in Washington. Wow! They are so on fire for God. They are really looking forward to going again next year. I am overloaded with all the things they have told me so I can’t really say if any ONE thing stood out. Adoration was a biggie! So was someone’s invitation for those possibly discerning a call to the religious life. They seemed really moved by the whole weekend.

I really wish I could attend one of their conferences! I’m really considering applying there for college. Where else do they offer the conferences? I heard of a few in Colorado and Louisiana. Any in Texas?

Sorry, none in Texas. I did find the site that lists all of the conferences though. Here is the link…

Hope you get to go!
mom26sofar,
Thanks for the website! too bad there’s none near to where I live…

I leave in 9 days for my first Steubenville youth conference at the Fransican University of Steubenville! From what I have heard they are AWESOME! We have been counting the days for this!

As my youth group gets ready to leave for the conference please pray that we have a safe journey (our bus ride will be about 22 hours!) and that we have a great experience and we become closer to God.

The Steubenville Youth Conferences are amazing! I never heard of them when I was a teenager, I can only imagine how going to one of those conferences then, when I was really beginning to drift from the faith, would have affected me…

We host Steubenville North here in St. Paul, MN every year, I started volunteering for it last year and will do so again this year. SN just started a few years ago, it is one of the more recent SYCs, but already it is so popular that registration closed early this year (leaving many youth groups who have been coming for years left out… many are making plans to road trip to another state’s conference). Last I heard, Franciscan U was requesting that the committee in St. Paul consider hosting TWO conferences beginning next year, due to popular demand!!

What amazing work of the Spirit! Last year, one of our new seminarians led a group of his parish’s confirmation class to the conference… More than a few of them did not want to come, just didn’t want to be there (ā€œnot coolā€), but by the end of the weekend, especially after the Saturday night Procession and Adoration, they had gone to confession on their own and were just on fire for Christ!! It was amazing to watch… especially remembering my own confirmation class, and how my class had been in the same ā€œnot coolā€ attitude–only we were never shaken out of it and were basically confirmed without caring or wanting it. 😦

Cheers for the SYCs!!! :dancing:

KeLLy,

You will not regret the conferences! I too am leaving in nine days, for the conference in Massachusetts for Steubenville East. The music is great, the priests are orthodox, Confession and Adoration are beyond words, and when you leave you’ll want more! I look forward to this conference every year, and count down the days too. Prepare for the conference by praying and studying the Bible. I will keep you in my prayers for your trip, that you get there safely and grow spiritually!

Benedictus Deus,

John.

This past weekend I attend my first Steubenvilles South conference in Alexindria LA. IT WAS AWESOME. Never before in my life have I seen over five thousand five hundred (5500) people, mostly teens, praising and worshiping our God. Saturday night was the best with the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrement. Although it was a little scary for some of the younger teens in our group it opened up the eyes to the power of our Lord. Don’t pass up the oportunity to send your youth group to one of these conferences. The house was packed. They may have to find a bigger place to hold the conference in the coming years.

God is good_________ All the time
