There is contention as to whether the Manoppello face is a hoax. Its not a good example to hold up

The Veil of Veronica is at the Vatican.

A series of miracles surrounds it for a given time period one day in 1849, witnessed by many.
“1849: Soon after the death of Sister Marie, a revolution erupted in the Papal States. Pope Pius IX ordered public prayers to be offered in Rome to implore God’s mercy, and Veronica’s Veil was put on display for public veneration for three days. On the third day the sacred features of Our Lord, normally faded, became distinctly seen and surrounded by a soft halo of light. This lasted for three hours and was documented by Vatican officials.”

Paintings of this miracle were done at the time, some can be seen in the links.

The private devotion to The Holy Face of Jesus is for the devotion to this Veil of St Veronica.

30 years of miracles happened in the home of the man who had a relic and promoted the devotion. It was a common devotion after that, until ww1.

If you contact that Apostolate, they will send you a cross and Rosary Chaplet, and info, free or small donation.

I just received one.

Source please.
See those links I posted to the devotion. The Miracles of the Veil of Veronica at the Vatican are fascinating.

St Theresa of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face had a great devotion to this.

There is also falsehood surrounding the original Religious Nun who received the devotion. It was attributed to someone else, falsely.

I see this as the great adversary not wanting us to know of the miracles of the real Veil of Veronica at the Vatican.

Did you know of it?

Yes, it was stored in one of the pillars if I remember…

I am remembering now. I thought I read a while ago they are different cloths. The veil of Veronica and a burial face covering.

I will have to research…

I just viewed my pre-recorded tape of episode 5. I thought I wouldn’t see it since EWTN was airing specials for Good Friday, but as luck would have it, my DVR recorded the 11:30 PM show. This was awesome, since Dr. Phillips showed slides of the “sudarium” (the napkin that was folded up in a separate place in the tomb - Jn. 20:7)

This may be venerated only 3 times a year in the San Salvador Cathedral in Oviedo, Spain where it is kept. Sept. 14 (Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross), Sept. 21, and Easter.

Of special interest is the overlay of the sudarium over the shroud, which matches the stain in the shroud, as being from the same body. There is no image on the sudarium, but it is stained with pulmonary edema fluid and blood, also AB positive. The dust on the nose of the sudarium equals the identical dust on the shroud, which places it on Calvary.

As Dr. Phillips explained the medical reasons for the fluid on the sudarium. They were able to determine that when Jesus died, his head rested on his right shoulder and the arm was bent slightly. It is believed that when Jesus died, they covered His face while Joseph was petitioning the body from Pilate, which took about an hour. That would explain the amount of fluid on the face cloth.

This information was new to me, and it seemed that some might also appreciate reading about it.

Happy Easter, everyone!
Hi!

Thanks for the info–I have to check to see if I have that recording.
