Please pray to St. Jude and St. Expedite for me. Things still are bad financially for me, and I’m being backed into a corner. I’m beyond words stressed out, and I need to see some light at the end of the tunnel.

Our Father who art in Heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done
on Earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen. :signofcross:

Hail Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with thee.
Blessed are you among women,
and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen. :signofcross:

Prayer to St. Jude

O Holy St Jude!
Apostle and Martyr,
great in virtue and rich in miracles,
near kinsman of Jesus Christ,
faithful intercessor for all who invoke you,
special patron in time of need;
to you I have recourse from the depth of my heart,
and humbly beg you,
to whom God has given such great power,
to come to my assistance;
help me now in my urgent need and grant my earnest petition.
I will never forget thy graces and favors you obtain for me
and I will do my utmost to spread devotion to you. Amen.

Chelale,

I’m not sure your situation, except that it’s financial.

Without knowing the specifics, I can only try to guess. So, let me include a few common resources. You may, or may not, qualify. Please take what applies, leave the rest for others on the forum who might benefit from this information.

With food…feedingamerica.org/find-your-local-foodbank/

There is also SNAP…ehow.com/how_5464192_apply-snap-food-stamp-program.html?ref=Track2&utm_source=ask

For housing, there is Section VIII…ehow.com/about_4569306_what-section-housing.html?ref=Track2&utm_source=ask

For utilities, each state generally has its own programs. When I was in New York State, they had an assistance program called HEAP which would give, about a couple hundred dollars towards utilities per year, depending on the case.

Also, you can contact each of your utilities…water…electric…gas…explain your situation. They often offer programs of their own, in the form of assistance. You can see if you might qualify. Additionally, they often offer “budget billing”, where it’s budgeted, more or less the same payment, per month. This is so that the bills don’t spike.

Additionally, some utilities offer “energy saving audits” where one can get some free energy-saving materials, and/or advice on ways to save.

With medical bills, there is Medicaid, but it goes by income, for low-income folks.

There is Medicare for seniors or the disabled.

There is SCHIP…which is health insurance for children.

There is WIC for pregnant mothers and for children.

There is St. Vincent de Paul which can sometimes help with something temporary, like a utility bill. They are through your local Catholic Church.

There are soup kitchens and food pantries. Churches might be able to orient a person as to community resources, or one could go online…do a Google search as to what is available insofar as assistance…looking under…food…housing…each specific category.

There is Catholic Social Services which can sometimes give a small amount of assistance with food or other things.

There is Goodwill which can sometimes provide a voucher towards items in the store, used clothing, perhaps an appliance. The Goodwill in my area would also do an assessment. What they couldn’t help with, they would give a referral to the appropriate organization.

Goodwill helps people with disabilities find jobs. They help the elderly with their work programs.

I know some places offered budgeting classes. Salvation Army was one place that helped with budgeting.

I was in dire straits, financially, different times. I have clipped coupons, come up with creative ways with finances. I’d get together with friends, also in financial difficulties. We helped each other.

Once, I had a friend who needed help with child care. I needed help with transportation. So, we arranged something where she’d get her childcare, and I’d get help with transportation.

One year, I had Christmas ornaments, no tree. She had a tree, no ornaments! lol

Also, once, I couldn’t afford my electric bill, so I babysat in addition to my regular job.

What else? There is a program called TANF…Temporary Assistance for Needy Families. You need to look it up according to the state you live in.

As I say, without knowing any specifics, it’s a little difficult to be of help, but though you didn’t ask for advice, I hope you don’t mind I took the liberty of putting a few resources. Again, take what works, and leave the rest for others on the forum.

Good luck!

Thank you for your good advice. I will look into it.

St. Jude is my patron Saint, so with great reverence and prayer…

Oh glorious apostle St. Jude,
faithful servant and friend of Jesus,
the name of the traitor who delivered thy beloved Master into the hands of His enemies has caused thee to be forgotten by many,
but the Church honors and invokes thee universally as the patron of hopeless cases–of things despaired of.

Pray for me who am so miserable; make use, I implore thee, of that particular privilege accorded thee of bringing visible and speedy help where help is almost despaired of.

Come to my assistance in this great need, that I may receive the consolations and succor of heaven in all my necessities, tribulations and sufferings, particularly the OP’s financial woes, and that I may bless God with thee and all the elect throughout eternity.

I promise thee, O blessed St. Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favor, and I will never cease to honor thee as my special and powerful patron, and to do all in my power to encourage devotion to thee. Amen

O most beautiful Flower of Mount Carmel, Fruitful Vine, Splendor of Heaven,
who brought forth the Son of God, still remaining a Virgin, assist us in this necessity.
O Star of the Sea, help us, and show us that you are our Mother.

O Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven and earth, we humbly ask you
from the depths of our heart to help us in this necessity.
There are none who can withstand your power.
O show us that you are our Mother.

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.
Sweet Mother, we place this cause in your hands. Amen
