I think we’ve ALMOST exhausted the topic of kneeling during the consecration. If someone knows full well that they are supposed to kneel, but still do not, is that a sin?? Mortal or venial? How about the 14 people on the kneel stand thread

forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?t=42553&highlight=kneel

who said they would assume the posture of the others in the church so as not to distract the others or call attention to themselves?

If a particular parish has a tradition not to kneel at the consecration, its inappropriate to call attention to yourself and do so.

But if someone thinks that they are obliged to do so, and don’t, I’d say that’s a sin as it would be a violation of their own conscience

CHRISTOS VOSKRES!
VO ISTINU VOSKRES!

In the Eastern Church, you are forbidden to kneel from Paska (Easter Sunday) until the Feast of Pentecost.

PERIOD!

This was decide by the Council of Nicea in the 4th century.

I ask visiting Latins not to kneel during the Consecration in our church during this time.

I have also PHYSICALLY STOPPED SSPX’ers from putting the kneeler down to kneel.

When you are visiting my parish FOLLOW MY CUSTOMS AND TRADITIONS OR LEAVE!

When in Rome, do as the Romans, when in Byzantine, do as the Byznatines…

KRISTUS FELDAMADT!
FALOBAN FELDAMADT!

I know that in the archdiocese that I live in, which is mostly Latin Rite Catholics, the Eastern Rite Catholics are encouraged to uphold their tradtions if they are here and attend a Mass in this diocese. No one would ever think to force them to kneel at a time in the Liturgy that is not in accord to their tradition, I am appalled that you would try to make a Latin Rite Catholic kneel or not kneel in yours!

Not when you have explained to them that there IS NO KNEELING FROM EASTER TO PENTECOST and they STILL insist on kneeling…

Like I said before, if you don’t like our customs and traditions, the door is over there------->

We get so sick and tired of the “wanna-be’s” coming to our church looking for a pre-Vatican II “Mass” and then get mad at us when they don’t find it in our church.

**I don’t understand that policy, **“forcing someone” is a bit extreme, but anyone who attends a Roman Catholic church ought to be encouraged to follow the traditions of the church, just as anyone who attends a Byzantine rite church should follow their traditions as well as they can.

I attended a Ukrainian funeral, and I followed the postures of the Ukrainian faithful there as did my Baptist boss who I attended with.

OK, so lets say we’re not forcing anyone to kneel or not kneel. They choose to not kneel bcause of the traditions of the parish…is that a sin or just an incorrect act??
