To start of, i am like 99% sure of my vocation to the priesthood.

However what im not as sure about is do I want to become a diocesan priest, or join a religious order(specificaly the Friars of the Renewal).

I realize the best answers will probably include meet with an advisor, but the problem is im nowhere near the CFR, or any Order for that matter, so I can only get the Diocesan side. Im thinking it might be a little easier when i go up to Franciscan Univeristy of Steubenville next year, but my Diocese wants me to apply before I go in order to get some financial assistance once Im ordained to help relieve the debt ill be racking up.

Which diocese are you in?
Is the CFR the Friars of the renewal?
Is that Fr. Groechels order?

Is the Bishop(OR VOCATIONS DIRECTOR) of that diocese sending you to study at Franciscan? The reason I say that is becuse if the diocese supports Fanciscan then it’s probably a diocese worthy of serving.
If not(IFUS is your own preference) then i think hold off on any commitment and the definite answer will come to you at FUS. --It’s a special place in that way.

Have you called the order you’re interested in and spoken with their vocation director? It seems like that would be a first step. They may have a vocation retreat you could attend or could arrange for you to come visit them. Then you’d be in a much better position to discern which direction is best.

Well, their first choice was for me to go to Ave Maria, but me an dmy parents had our doubts and problems with the school, and they ahve supported my choice to go to FUS, pretty much i talked to the Vocations Director and Bishop, and they said if I want to go to FUS, they will support me going there

Good then your diocese may be something you can coimmit to.

Yeah i really like our diocese, and our Bishop. He’s old school Italian, meaning the only downside is that every word soouuunndds liiiiiiike thiiiiiis.😃 But he is really Conservative, I have never been to a single Mass at any of the several parishes I have been to that had any blatant problems.

The one problem is some areas tend to be really old(we are the retirement home of the United States:p ), and one thing I really want to do is bring other kids, especially Teens, back into the faith, to grow thier faiths.

We had a Passionist, Fr. Cedric Pisegna, come for a Parish mission last year. He was awesome. He has a website www.frcedric.com, that I found while double checking that he was indeed a Passionist, that looks like it has a lot of cool info on it
