Stop and Go Mass?

Does anybody know where I can get information on something called the Stop and Go Mass? Its where the priest stops the Mass and explains whats going on.
 
I’ve never heard of it called that, but I’ve been to several Masses where the priest did that, and I found it to be very helpful and educational. Where did you hear of it?

I don’t remember. I listen to EWTN alot and read alot so its anybodies guess where I heard it.

I’ve only ever attended one Mass like this and that was because I wanted to understand and learn about my faith as a Cradle Catholic who was very poorly taught and so I attended, as already a Catholic, the RCIA classes run in my Parish. The Priest went through all of the Mass and as he said Mass he explained what all of it meant.

Perhaps you could attend an RCIA group that does this near to you.

Stop and Go is a slang term what it is really called is an Instructional Mass or a Mass of Instruction.
 
I did a Yahoo search and found that it was developed at St. Ambrose parish in Baltimore. Perhaps you can contact them for more information.
 
Our priests do a “teaching mass” several times a year. It really is a fabulous thing. They explain the proper names for everything, explain why certain things are done, etc. It is wonderful.
It’s usually done as a school mass for the students, but anyone can attend.
 
If you want to know what is going on, how about reading these Mass Talk sermons my pastor gave. It continues and more are being loaded.

Scroll to the bottom to find the first Mass talks, then they work their way up to 15 and so on. Things are kind of scattered.

I’ve also heard it called the “Slo-Mo” Mass (for slow motion). We have them for the CCD students once a year, although not on a Sunday.
