I checked my emailings from Prolife Action League, and they had a petition out there several months before this in a similar vein- but with more facts readily available.
I feel better when I have done a good job. I don’t overwhelm such great personages with too many facts. They might not appreciate it. I agree with you, but I signed it. Killing the innocent is wrong, either at here in the US or in Iraq. Taxpayer funding of the killing of the innocent is horrible, no matter how small the amount. Besides, how much energy and attention does it take to click a link and sign an online petition?Tens of millions of our tax dollars (thousands of them mine) are being used each day to fight an immoral and counter-productive war. When we can put an end to that, I’ll re-direct my energy and attention to the pittance PP is receiving by comparison.
Contact their offices in DC and ask for the “legislative assistant who works on abortion issues and the legislative assistant who works with Title X legislation.” Then ask to be connected to that person. Also, send a letter addressed to that person, not the senator, since it is that person who drafts the legislation dealing with that particular subject and actually works hand-in-hand with the senator on that subject. I don’t know if the legislative assistants have changed for Obama and Durbin, but Ms. Hughes was the l.a. for Obama, and Ms. Morris was the l.a. for Durbin a few years ago. Ms. Hughes was extremely polite and open to at least listening to me and returned my phone call within a day. Ms. Morris took months to even return a phone call. Please, do not ignore my advice (this goes for anyone from any state) about who to contact. I have worked for the Senate and know who the “real” behind the scenes people are who do the dirty work to get things done.
