The more that lawmakers on Capitol Hill try to shift
public attention on health care away from abortion,
the more the debate becomes centered around it.
Why?
Because a strong majority of Americans – whether
pro-life or pro-choice, Democrat or Republican – do
NOT want the government to pay for abortions.
And that’s exactly what the health care bill pending
in the Senate does.
Thanks to Congressman Bart Stupak (D-MI) and many
other courageous lawmakers in the House of
Representatives, abortion is NOT funded by the
government in the House bill.
However, the Senate bill hangs in the balance.
A vote is expected TODAY in the Senate on an
amendment similar to the Stupak Amendment. Once
again, it’s crucial your two Senators hear from you
RIGHT NOW.

Last week, Planned Parenthood and several other
abortion industry groups held a lobby day on Capitol
Hill, demanding that lawmakers fund abortion with
government dollars.
Don’t let them drown out YOUR voice!
Americans have made it crystal clear: we don’t want
government funding of abortion. PERIOD.
Only by making sure language is put into the health
care bill – that specifically excludes funding of
abortion coverage – will the law be held at the
status quo of what it has been for over 30 years.
Without this language, America is on the verge of the
largest expansion of abortion since Roe v. Wade.
If lawmakers really want to make the health care bill
about health care and not abortion, they must take
abortion funding out of the bill so that Americans
are not forced to pay for it.
