Is that a naughty yiddish word too? :tsktsk:

It’s french and it’s used in fencing. Touche’ is touch in french. The touch of the sword in fencing scores you one point.

In this case, I used it figuratively in that you scored a point with your comment.
tou·ché (tū-shā’)
interj.
Used to acknowledge a hit in fencing or a successful criticism or an effective point in argument.
[French, from past participle of toucher, to hit or wound in fencing, from Old French touchier, to touch. See touch.]

It is erroneous to think that just because a pain or difficulty can be offered to God, irritations at Mass are helpful. Any irritation can of course be a help, in that we can offer it to God, but our worship should not cause ear pain nor any other kind of pain that can be permanently damaging. We are to mortify the flesh but we must not damage ourselves to the point where our duties of life are threatened. Loud volume is very unhealthy. At the Mass we should be recollected. Everything about the Mass should contribute to recollection. Liturgical features that work at cross-purposes to that should be eliminated.
