Stopping oxycodone withdrawl

Hello,

I have spinal stenosis and degenerative disk disorder. I have been on Oxycodone for the last two years. Because of political pressure my doctor and many other doctors do not want to prescribe opiod pain killers any more. My doctor has switched my to Tramadol, a much weaker pain medication. I am going through a painful withdrawal from the Oxycodone. Please pray for me.

Please find a board certified Pain Specialist. I share your conditions, have had 1 surgery and 28 lumbar epidurals. I see my awesome young doc once a month and my blood levels and liver function is lab tested every 4 months. He told me that GP’s and Internal Med docs are scared to death to prescribe pain pills even though they have patients such as you and I. On top of it, your doc should have given you the drug that helps make opioid withdrawal liveable. You might have to ask for a referral to the specialist depending on your insurance. I think your doctor did a huge disservice moving you from oxycodone to hydrocodone to codeine. Tramadol is also terribly addicting and has seizure warnings. To make life bearable, he could have Rxed clonidine and a short stint of zolpidem for sleep.

I was on it for a short while 12 years ago. The withdrawals are not fun. And I agree that seeing a pain mgmt specialist is the way to go.

I recently shattered my tibia. The surgeon allowed 1 refill of my med before suggesting a PM doctor. Amen that I already had one because of back and neck issues.

My prayers are with you. Pray to St Maximilian Kolbe to ease your pain.
