So I am despirate to get my DVDs and CDs up off the floor and into some sort of storage case. Honestly, the storage we have for our DVDs can last another couple of years, but I just stack up our CD’s on top of the entertainment center, and they get dusty, and they’re all out of order, and fall behind the entertainment center. I’ve been searching online for some storage that stores both DVDs and CDs, or just CDs.

We have a little over 300 CDs  . I know that’s a lot, but so many of them are promo items my husband gets for free from work, so we don’t want to “re-sell” them to Hastings because that’d be too close to stealing. We give as many as possible away to friends and family.

I want something to put them in that can be on top of our DVD storage unit, with drawers, or solid doors, no glass doors, and not something to hang on the wall. I don’t want the CD’s in sight because it’s so cluttery, but I want the storage case in sight and easily accessable, because so many are kids CDs I play daily. Maybe I’m being too picky? 😊

What does everyone out there have to store their DVDs and CDs? I want something under $200, if possible. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

For CD’s I put everything that I want to keep on an external hard drive. It really becomes very convenient.

For DVDs, I took the discs out of the cases and put them in those paper CD/DVD envelopes. You can get a ton of them in a shoebox!

I’m like you; I got very tired of seeing CDs and DVDs all over the place. BTW, I stored the actual CDs in the storage room.🙂

I use binders for both my CDs and DVDs.

The DVD binders have pages where the artwork goes in the front and the discs in the back. It works really well, and takes up much less space.

The CD binder doesn’t have space for the artwork, but that doesn’t bother me. (I store my music on my iPod; the discs are just for backup.)

I took ours out of their case and store them in binders made to hold CD’s and DVD. I keep papers next to the cd in the case so I can quickly flip to see what movie or music it is. Initially I kept the cases stored elsewhere, (in case I didn’t like storing my cd’s out of their cases), but I recently got rid of the cases. Storing them this way takes far less room.

I got at target shoe box type containers, but they are CD-DVD size, that come flat, you have to fold them and make the box top, but they came in the colors of my office, kind of plastic coated, probably $10 for 5 boxes. I like it because they stay dust free, have seen these at staples and in housewares catalogs as well

these are attractive storage for CDs not used much. the ones I use all the time are in binders, large notebook size, with sleeves that hold 4 to a page front and back. at the time we were travelling and space was at a premium. also some of these go back and forth to work a lot so this is safer

**THIS

theshoppingchannel.com/product/more+from/disgear+selector+120hd+storage+system+348305.do?N=128381**

is awesome…just saw it on the shopping channel last night and it worked great!!! Not sure what the equivalent in the US would be but it’s worth trying to find it. It doesn’t describe it well enough on the site. It basically stores them all “on edge” and then you slide the selector to the number CD you want and it grips it with the lid for you. There is a drawer pull out that lists them by title and the little book holds all the album covers. Great system…can you tell I want one? LOL:D

I got decent speakers, loaded them into a PC, and play them using Media Player and iTunes. The actual CDs are in the basement in a big Rubbermaid container. But I am a bit of a geek.

Got this one for my husband last year for Christmas (2007) skymall.com/shopping/detail.htm?pid=102094206&c=

With shipping it is just under $200.00. We are very happy with it - doesn’t take up a lot of space and holds all of his CD’s that he has been collecting for the last 20 or so years!
