Saint Patrick was a leader of enormous courage who moved in signs and wonders who demonstrated to the Irish, steeped in magic, paganism and occultism, that God’s supernatural power is greater.

He regularly practiced the gift of hearing God in dreams and visions.

He converted the reverence the Irish had for their old deities into hatred for demons, who he defeated with the power of God.

I pray a similar version of the Lorica–the Breastplate–most days:

Christ as a light, illumine and guide me
Christ as a shield, overshadow me
Christ under me
Christ over me
Christ beside me on my left and my right
This day be within and without me
Lowly and meek, yet all powerful
Be in the heart of each to whom I speak
Be in the mouth of each who speaks unto me
This day be within and without me
Lowly and meek, yet all powerful
Christ under me
Christ over me
Christ beside me on my left and my right

As you can see, it has a kind of chiastic structure!
This is followed by the traditional Celtic Catholic blessing prayer.

May the Strength of God guide us.
May the Power of God preserve us.
May the Wisdom of God instruct us.
May the Hand of God protect us.
May the Way of God direct us.
May the Shield of God defend us.
May the Angels of God guard us.
