Story: Facebook apologized for blocking image of crucifix. Had rejected the image of the crucifix for being "shocking and excessively violent."

Do people not know what an algorithm is??

There is not a room full of people sitting somewhere scanning Facebook posts so they can block images of Crucifixes.

The computer screened an image or responded to a flag someone hit, then, a real human reviewed things and undid the mistake. No story here.

Why are you digging for this stuff? It’s two months old.

Which is not to say that there haven’t been multiple examples of social media blocking religious expression of a Christian, and specifically Catholic, nature. Social media is full of people just waiting to be offended and eager to flag something that supposedly troubles them.

Well, it is shocking and excessively violent. We as Catholics know that better than anyone! 🕊️💗

Yeah, while there’s certainly instances where Christian expression is purposely blocked, this is not one of them. Facebook apologized and corrected the error. Nothing to get too riled up about here.
