Using Google Trends data on internet searches for “prayer” for 75 countries, she said she found that “search intensity for ‘prayer’ doubles for every 80,000 new registered cases of COVID-19.”

“The rise in prayer intensity supersedes what the world has seen for years” and may likely continue to rise as the crisis worsens, she added.

“There are no atheists in foxholes.”

In times of crisis, people turn to God. It’s sad it takes crisis for so many people to do so, yet I’m grateful they do. Let’s hope (and pray) that millions of these people remain turned to God in the aftermath.

God can use anything for our good. I think there are a great many lessons to be learned during this pandemic. One of them, for those who didn’t know or had forgotten, is the importance of prayer.

I am happy everyone is looking for prayers. I hope they continue to pray when the crisis is past and everything is okay again. I reckon some will and some won’t.

I hear friends mention prayer and things that are God-related or faith-related more often in texts than usual.

Remember the old adage that God can bring good out of evil? (Most people here are presumably some type of Christian, so we know that is true). I think this is good evidence of that.

Well, we see this stuff all through the Old Testament too.
God’s People get in trouble, they call for God, they pray, fast, sacrifice, beg him to save them.
He saves them.
All is well for a while and then they start going off and sinning and worshipping other gods and generally forgetting about God again.
Until some other crisis arises, then they go back to praying.

Repeat on a continuous loop pretty much all through the OT…
